Next, I'd like you to notice that the centers are connected by a series of pathways. These pathways are called channels. Once again, the series of pathways that connect all of the centers are called channels. There are 36 channels in Human Design. Each channel consists of two gates, that's right one gate at either end of the channel, you can find the gate follow the pathway or the channel and you will arrive at another gate. So two gates per channel want to either end when both of the gates get defined or colored down the channel then the whole channel gets colored in.
When only one of the gates gets colored in on the channel, this is called a hanging gate. So once again, if only one gate and that channel is defined or colored in, we refer to this as a hanging gate. So let's do a quick review of what we learned up to this point, we learned that the geometric, the geometric shapes on the chart are called energy centers. And there are nine energy centers. We learned that we have white centers that are called Open centers. There are defined centers, which are the centers that are colored in, we learned that the white centers operate like receivers taking in energy from the environment, and defined centers act like transmitters sending the energy outward into the environment.
We learned that there are 64 gates in the Human Design, and that each one of those gates correlates to a hexagram of the Chinese eaching resolve. We have also learned that there are 36 channels, those are the pathways that connect the centers. And we also learned that there are two gates per channel one at either end of the channel.
