Okay, now the first place that we're going to want to begin for Camtasia is the system requirements are you even able to install it on your, you know, Windows or Macintosh computer. With that being said, you can go ahead and go to techsmith.com look up the Camtasia system requirements, that URL is also right there in the header, header URL bar. And what you can see is I'm going to go through the very basic foundations for Windows, the biggest mistake that you're probably going to be running into, and let me switch over to the desktop so that way, you can see that the biggest issue that you're going to be running into is a 64 bit Windows. That is the biggest qualifier. If you have a 32 bit operating system, then what you're going to need to do is actually upgrade that six system to 64 bits with the Microsoft CD that should have come with your device.
If it didn't, then the unfortunate factor is you're going to need to find a way to use Get a key in order to upgrade and get it to 64 bits because that is the minimum requirement. If you have 32 bit operating system, it will not work. Now, when it comes to Windows PCs, you're going to need a little bit more RAM. four gigabytes is the minimum, really, it's eight that's recommended. I suggest that as well because that's what I have. And even still a sometimes has issues if I'm running multiple windows, multiple programs and recording and you know, maybe even editing at the same time, it's just too much for it.
So with that being said, on the Macintosh computers, it's going to be a little bit less two gigs is the recommended minimum and then four gigs is really what they are suggesting. With that being said, you're going to again, find the URL techsmith.com forward slash Camtasia system requirements, that's going to lead you to where you need to go to check out these requirements or you can pause video, make sure that everything is updated with your computer. For those of you who don't know Regarding the windows, if you are 32 or 64 bit, go to the start menu, go to computer, click on your C drive is what should almost always be named, that's the default drive, click on System Properties. And if that doesn't work, you can always right click, and there'll be a properties or system properties that you can bring up. Inside here, you're going to see not only your system rating, but the biggest portion you need to know that 64 bit operating system.
And as you can see, I have eight gigabytes installed that is really the recommended eight or more, I also suggest having eight or more. Otherwise, you're going to have some issues with lag. And that's just really a performance issue with your computer and not Camtasia as the software, although we will get into in the later portions, some of the capabilities and some of the downfalls that really Camtasia has, and it's not a good thing. It's not a bad thing. It's just knowing What they are so that way you can make sure to avoid those costly issues.
