Okay, now it's time to show you how to use green screens and edit. And one thing I really want you to keep in mind is that when you do editing for a green screen, it really all comes down to the lighting that you have and that can absolutely make the job easy, or a pain in the arse. And let me tell you, that is probably the biggest benefactor in you editing properly for a green screen. So how do you get proper green screen setup? Well, as long as you follow my lighting guide, that's going to give you probably the best foot forward because not only that, I also recommend a blank sheet as well as a green screen. The blank sheet will be great for just on the go productions.

But if you want to create a different background, other than a black or maybe even a white background, a green screen will be something that you will be utilizing, maybe relatively often and if you Are to make sure that you tighten very taut the sheets onto the sides of your canopy and your bars that I've already suggested inside of your lighting and video and audio setup section. When you follow those directions, you set up your light properly, you get a great circular relay or even a spotlight with a daytime bulb inside of it. That's going to help you stand out from the background, which again captures all of the luminescent green that it needs to which stands in great contrast to whatever you're wearing. Now, of course, I don't suggest wearing anything green like this. If you're going to do a green screen, you want to wear wear a contrasting color anything but something that is green.

So do keep that in mind as you do your editing. That's just something that naturally comes along with the territory. So don't forget about that. So your green screen it is just a test video just to show you how we go through our editing process. The video is a little bit smaller than we'd like. So let me go ahead and take me off the screen so you can focus directly on the video we're editing.

So now here we are, we have this video on screen, all you can do is hold the control button down, and you can either hit what I like to do is I would really like to just scroll in to the video, and that will enlarge it to the size of the screen eventually, there we go. So now it's full size. With it being full size I want to scale to fit. So that's going to go down a little bit, we're going to come all the way down to visual effects. inside Visual Effects, we will click remove a color. Now it's pretty smart Camtasia it knows most of the time it's going to be a green screen.

At other times it may be something else. But again, that's all to you what you would like to use. And it really comes down to lighting. So even here, you can see that there's a little bit of an issue inside of that lighting. So we're gonna need To work over here, as you'll see, within the tolerance, the softness and the differential, the hue doesn't work quite as much in a green screen that's more prevalent inside of a black or white background. And if you want to remove certain colors again, all you're going to do is click inside of this.

If I clicked white, there, you see those colors being removed black, you see those colors being removed. If I brought it up to 50%, there's the all the black been removed. So most the time we're going to see a green color. Now I've removed a few of these different colors. So I'm going to undo all that and remove that color once more, it'll auto adapt to the biggest background color that it sees, which happens to be this color green. The tolerance we're gonna want to probably bring up a little bit, just so you know, every time you bring up the tolerance.

It will auto update pretty rapidly so you can see it fading as we go. up all the way till if you get to 100%, again, it's basically waiting out whatever you have on screen. So I'm going to bring it down, I often find that somewhere around 50% is a good start, you may want to play with a little bit, but that's what softness and the differential is all about, as well. So this is going to allow you to not cut in to the video that's playing here. As you can see, it won't cut into the arms or any of the movement. But what we'll want to do, and let me just quickly pause this video again, is will bring up the hue.

So or I'm sorry, the softness and the softness, maybe just a really give a contrast and then to put it up to 50%. So you can see the difference. There's zero, there's 50, zero 50. So you can kind of see that does deliver that final touch to the background that you want. So for me, I'm probably going to put it somewhere around 30 and then the defringe actually I'm going to show you again 100%. That's what differential does, here's 50% we obviously don't want that, we probably want somewhere near a 10 or even a 5%.

And then we're going to play between the tolerance and the softness a little bit more, just to see what's left out there. All right, so we may bring it up just another one or two, and there we go. So there's a very thin outline, sometimes around the red hairs we can see. And that's just naturally a glimmer of having product in hair, having a reflective surface. But as you bring the softness down a little bit, bringing the tolerance back up. Again, we can get really close to that point very, very close.

Usually it's just one or 2% or 2% away. And there we have a completely black background video. So as you can see, the video is still playing the green screen, the Background has been taken away, the new additions that you'd like to add into it can be added. So you can even invert these things. Again, that's kind of the Apple iTunes, if you're imagine the old school, this is what they did, they just inverted the green screen. And that's how you remove the green screen.

So that's one of the important features inside of Camtasia to allow you to get the backgrounds the coloring, and the saturation that you need for your basic output.
