So in this video, I just wanted to take a couple minutes to explain a little bit about WordPress and what WordPress is. Essentially, you've probably heard of, you know, WordPress, if you've done any research into building your own website, or possibly hiring another company to do your website, it's very possible that if you already have your own website that whoever built it for you use this platform as it is one of the most popular platforms out there. In this course, I'm not going to give you an entire tutorial on doing WordPress and setting up a website with WordPress because really, that would be a whole entire other course in and of itself. So what I wanted to do is actually just sort of explain what the software is and then let you kind of decide if it's something you want to you know, approach on your own.
Generally what I find with most small business owners is they'll probably pay someone to do a website in WordPress. What I will tell you is it is very easy to do a website in WordPress. You know if you're paying someone you know thousands and thousands of dollars to do a WordPress site unless they're doing Some really high end customization stuff. You know, I generally would say that probably in the like, you know, 300 to $1,000 range would be a pretty good price for WordPress site. If you're paying more than that, then I'd like to think that you're getting some really high end customizations, a lot of high quality, unique graphic work, there's going to be a lot of content included, maybe some sort of, you know, maintenance stuff included with your WordPress installation, all these other things that this company would be doing for you. So that's just something I wanted to throw out there.
If you don't have a website, what you could do is head over to wordpress.org. And maybe just do a little bit of light reading here to learn a little bit about the platform and what it is. And I wanted to show you an example client site that I did for a painter. So this is a site that's actually using WordPress. You know, basically, I downloaded a theme that you know, is essentially the layout of the site and from there, I think Then build it out and use a bunch of images like this is one of his images from a house he painted. And some of these are stock photos.
You know, the, the painter that I did this for actually wanted me to, you know, do some of the articles, but he had already written some previously. So we used a lot of those, we kind of filled things out, and I helped him do this gallery. And then we kind of have some other stuff here. You know, and about us, you know why people should choose them some testimonials about his work. And then just some really basic stuff, you know, like, here's his Angie's List, logo there and just contact information, very simple site. You know, he's got some services service pages that you can check out and different projects and things like that.
So you can do quite a bit with WordPress. The options are really unlimited. There's really no limitation to what you can do. It's all kind of what you what you'd like to see in a website and what you'd like to come up with. So in terms of actually learning the plot, If you don't have a website at all, and you'd really like to learn how to use WordPress, I'm actually going to leave a link inside this video.
