When he sings, he's gonna sing over this one and all I hear is a double stop lick. So I've got my first finger on the fourth fret of the first string, my second finger on the fifth fret of the second string with the open base, so we got this could be playing a chord shape. And this is a D seventh or a D shaped E chord.

I'm just taking my D. If I move it up two frets that becomes an E. But if I when I listen to His recording the one I'm listening to here, I do not hear the third string. So I think he's just playing double stuff. He starts out right here. He does this little bass thing over the beast seventh, which is our five. And then he goes into this lick. Now he plays it a little differently with the verses, he plays this.

So we're gone. This is a real workout for your pinkie and this is why I'm including this song because it forces you to develop your pinkie and you could play just a straight B seven to an a seventh, but the pinkie, that little lick. That's really cool. And all we're doing is like we did in the introduction going back and forth between the longest And B seventh with fourth string as our base. And then in the verse we do that they stumble back to the seventh and now he's just playing it straight. You can do the bass stumble twice or didn't keep it on the open a.

And I know the version that I've learned this from when you listen to his singing, he kind of holds the chords a little longer, a couple extra beats to get the timing down. You could play the straight with straight time in and make it work. But if you listen to his version, he kind of stays on certain chords, usually the a seven. So if I play it in time, it'd be something like this. Before I go to the E, but he stays on that a seven and we're going to go to an E so we go to an E chord you can just play the straight E. Or you can take your ring finger and play a little melody on the second fret of the second string before you go to the five after the one, so let me play a whole sample verse, typical verse of key to the highway and throughout the tune, he plays basically the same pattern with a few little variations on timing and picking.

So we'll take it from the end of the of the introduction with the turnaround When it gets over the E like here, just play around with that you got the bass gone. And your first finger no experiment with different patterns of picking the open strings. And putting that second finger down now during the solo, I'll show you a really cool lick that will play over that. And when it goes to the B seven, just going from the third string back and forth with the second string holding the B seventh chord. I'm getting a pinch open six open first for my e so we got this. Actually not a pinch, I'm up stroking and coming down on the base that's gonna send us into our turnaround for each versus almost exactly like that, and then he goes into this turnaround so we'll take it from the five So what I'm doing here, I'm doing that same slide we did the seventh shade, and I'm sliding on the third string second, the fourth fret upstroke with my first finger getting really the first second and third string the whole time.

Then, I take my second my ring finger off the first string, so we got this. And then we're gonna go to B seven chord and I not sure exactly what he's doing here, but this is how I play it. I'm gonna thump the fifth string here, or you could just stay on the open six, but I like to dump the fifth string the B seventh chord. And then it goes like this. I'm getting the open second string, pinching the sixth and the first string into that court. So the whole turnaround he plays goes like this.

And then we got the slide that we learned in the introduction from the second to the fourth into the B seven. Does it really fast so you got to work on on getting that B seven chord down. So let me just play it one more time. Let's play the verse through one more time from the wind. He just does that every time he sings a verse that is pretty much what he's playing. Now we're going to learn the soul up and then we'll we'll learn the tag that he wraps up the song with
