DESCRIPTION: In this live talk, Dr. Neimark will review the basics of the human stress response and then introduce you to two more powerful techniques that can radically reduce the level of stress in your life. The first technique is called "tensing to relax" - also known as progressive muscle relaxation. It turns out that tensing your muscles followed by relaxing them triggers the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system, which gives you access to a "control switch" that can turn down your overactive fight or flight stress response before it leads you to burnout.
