DESCRIPTION: Liminal time or space is a place in-between places, a place between here and there. For some unknown reason, this place is often where many great works are created.
Think about people who rent a writing cottage at the beach. Not in the sea and not fully on land. Between 03:00 and 04:00 in the summer is a liminal time, the darkest part of the night just before the dawn.
All liminal situations give way to creation – before dusk and dawn, on trains where you’re not where you’re going and you’re not where you have been. Being in an in-between space. Even cafés are an in-between space. Not where you live or where you’re ultimately going.
I had to move to San Francisco from London to finish my book ‘You Do Know’, something about the energy of earth faultline on a peninsula helped me to write. I understand Eckhart Tolle did the same thing with writing A New Earth.
