Okay, our final exercise in this section in the training will be employment success standards. This exercise you will learn the values of how to maintain and appropriate behavior in the workplace. Now every employee, employer has surging employee guidelines and rules and regulations, we want you to be mindful of that first and foremost. But in general these issues here are some things that will occur in just about any workplace environment. So the exercise goes this way. Ethics define a set of morals principles or values a theory or system of moral values and this is going to test and evaluate where you stand on basic morals and ethics and appropriate inappropriate That work.
So this list of seven behaviors that could occur at work, we want you to evaluate them rank in order from least ethical to most ethical. One represents a behavior, which you believe is most unethical. That means the worst thing on this list will be a one. Now seven represents something, okay? It's no big deal. I can get away with that.
It's not heavy. It's not anything that'll make or break me. I can, I'll do that without worrying about my employer looking negative at me. So one is the worst thing on the list. And etc, would be not so not a big deal at all. Now, there should be one number about each one for example, what would you rank number one, using email for personal use?
Well, that'd be a 123456 or seven. Market appropriately. How about the next one? calling in sick when you're not Where does that thing land? In your scheme of things? How would you represent?
How ethical is that? And how appropriate is that at work? Is that not a big deal? When the two are serious one or two or not a big deal? or five? or six or seven?
How about being late for work? Two or three days every week? Where do you fall on that? How does that rank in your scheme of things and appropriate behavior at work? Would that be a 123456? or seven?
Market appropriately? How about texting their family member to let them know what time you'd be off? Is that a big deal or one or not? So big deal to seven, or kind of somewhere in between for you? Like a three or four? How about hearing a rumor about your manager and telling two workers starting rumors at work?
That, you know, basic human behavior, it happens not a big deal? Where do you rank that behavior word 123456 or seven How about getting into an argument? Getting into an argument in front of customers with a co worker who keeps getting buggy sometimes get on your work, no nerves at work, and you just blow up at them in front of a customer. Is that a 123456 or seven, rank it. Remember, there should be only one number in front of each one of these behaviors. And finally, the last one, not in no particular order, but making a sexual advance toward the supervisor, coworker.
Now, once you think about that in detail, making an advance at someone, well, that'd be a 1234 or five, six or seven. Again, one being the worst thing on the list. absolute worst, and a seven mean and not so bad. Go ahead and make your ranking. There's no right or wrong answers. But this will give you a good indication of how you evaluate yourself and what is appropriate behavior for work.
Now if you're way off the board and more than likely You will perform one of these actions and not think is a big deal. When in the employers eyes, it's a very big deal. So what I'll do is that we've implemented what is appropriate according to employers, how they evaluate and how they perceive these actions and weigh them versus what you can see. Now ideally, we want to be in harmony with what the employer does, because they will ultimately decide on how these actions will be dealt with if they are experienced at work and with an employee. So again, final exercise, evaluating your ethics appropriate behavior at work.
