These are different skill to do with speaking and communication and persuasion that will help to form a foundation for you to have real speaking success. Now I promote is a speech structure that you can use when you're looking to persuade people to do something. You might be selling an actual product or service or you might be wanting to just put forward an idea and see whether people will go along with you on it. It doesn't matter which one it is I promote applies really well to both.

It has its roots firmly in consultative selling, that's for sure. But don't let that put you off. If you are not selling it does not matter. This is very much about persuading. It's really worth taking some time over there. It takes a little while to get used to speaking in this way, but believe me when I say it will pay dividends for you.
