How To Train: 
I’ve combined both forehands backhand volleys because they are best practiced together. You can always isolate these strokes and just focus on one at a time but you will train them the same. Training your volleys will require a partner and someone with good control on their net game.
Phase 1: Start with simple hand feeding. You can stand close to the net, about 3 feet away, and practice stopping your racket at contact. Unlike the groundstrokes, you will want a very firm grip on the racket for control. Keep your racket open roughly at a 45° angle￼. Practice with a rotating feed to your forehand volley and backhand volley. Once you feel comfortable take a few steps back and practice with a regular feed off of the racket. Practice this 3 times weekly until you feel comfortable with a live ball.
Phase 2: In this phase, you'll have your partner/coach feed from the baseline to add some pace to the feed. Have the feeder rotate the feed forehand/backhand to practice...
