DESCRIPTION:
How To Train:
The slice is going to require a partner and someone who can control their feed to you.
Phase 1: Start at the service line and have them hand feed it to you. Try aiming at the opposite sides service box. Keep the pace down and focus on accuracy. If you are having trouble try holding on to the racket with both hands up until the follow-through. There is not much more to do than repetitions. The feeder can increase the pace, you can hit from the baseline and you can work on stabilization by using only one arm. Take it one step at a time and set a goal of 10 in a row low over the net with backspin. Practice this 3 times a week an hour at a time if you want quick results.
Phase 2: Have the feeder feed to you at the baseline. Try to hit the slice cross-court low over the net with a goal of 20 times in a row. the feeder can either drop feed to you or feed on the other side of the court. Practice this 20 mins at a time 3 times per week.
Phase 3: Try rally with partner/coach...
