Once you have established the Prosocial Matrix point of view, you can extend noticing and being mindful of any everyday activity.
We do this by assigning "homework" that works. It is the best homework they will ever get.
Homework is an easy way to introduce sorting. Sorting is a natural skill that all humans are inclined to do. The Matrix uses sorting to help everyone gain perspective on actions, experiences, and consequences. It uses the same non-judgemental stance that we use for noticing. Sorting ramps up psychological flexibility and is the antidote to feeling stuck.
We are inviting students to sort, which leads to increased creativity, problem-solving, and productivity. It is something anyone can do.
There is no way to do sorting wrong since it is the activity of sorting that you are promoting, not accuracy or correctness. This is because the sorting you are after takes place inside the student so they can become more flexible and experience the big picture of what they are up to.
Sorting is empowering and will help you to reduce your own stress since you don't have to have the answers. You simply invite them to sort their experiences, and they do the rest. It gives everyone a pause to come into better contact with the present moment and figure things out.
