Some of the scientific research is really incredible with this practice. So I want to go into some of that now. One thing is they've been shown through scientific studies that there's actually a progression of the withdrawal of the senses. So when you're starting to go to sleep, certain senses disengage first. So the first one just engage is that a smell? And in the tantras, you can find that the correlating chakra, for the sense of smell is your first chakra, so down at the root of the body.

And so that smell goes first. Then taste which corresponds to the second chakra. Then you have the visual cortex which corresponds to money poor The navel, then you have taste which is in the heart center. And finally you have hearing which corresponds with the shootie. So hearing is disengaging last before we enter into this state of dream and unconscious mind, which taps you into basically withdrawing out of the body back into the super consciousness. So in this sort of in between space right here, the hearing is still engaged.

So we've got hearing less, but all the other senses disengaged, and we enter into the realm of visualization imagination, where we're practicing yoga nidra. So studies show that they're, you know, three distinct states of consciousness in any human being. And these are scientifically documented and studied. People getting little electrodes on their brain and watching them on They go to sleep. So we have the waking state, which is the conscious mind and that's your beta brainwaves, and that's from 13 to 20 CPS, the level of your brainwaves there. And then as you're starting to fall asleep into dreaming that's correlating with the subconscious mind where you go into theta brainwaves between four and seven TPS.

And then you have the deep sleep, the unconscious mind that's your delta brainwaves between zero and four. But right in between waking and dreaming, you have alpha brainwaves, and usually you just hit this stage for a very short period of time. And this is actually when you're switching from conscious mind to subconscious mind. It's between eight and 12 CPS, so you have the 13 to 20 is your waking and then you have the four to seven is dreaming. So between eight and 12 is your alpha brainwaves and yoga nidra Is this state where you are sustaining your alpha brainwaves for longer than normal, and that is borderline consciousness. But what's really incredible about this is that they have found when someone has been practicing yoga nidra Now you also increase alpha brainwave state when you're meditating long periods of time yoga.

Nidra is a type of meditation. What happens is, it's not just that you develop this other state of consciousness, this alpha yoga nature, but in this state of alpha, you are able to become conscious and aware of all of the other states of consciousness as well. This is huge. You know, they've studied this. If you look in your book, you can go to in the back scientific investigation. And they talked about a specific Yogi, Swami Rama, who was hooked up to all the equipment.

And as he took himself into various stages of consciousness that will they monitored him. And they found that indeed, he was able to maintain this alpha brainwave state. But not only that, when he got into the Delta brainwaves of deep sleep, he still was conscious of what was going on around him. In fact, he was able to relay the experiences and the comments and so forth of the investigators and doctors and such around him while he was in that recorded state of deep sleep. So he was conscious in deep sleep, the unconscious mind he was conscious and dreaming he could relay not only what was happening, the impressions in his mind, but what was going on around him as well. And then of course, his waking state.

So this remarkable, you know, map Over all the states is basically how the book puts it says something about what Yoga nidra helps one to develop. And that is, you know, according to the investigation and you know, the basically the experiences of those who've practiced including myself, so I know I haven't gone as deeply as I can still yet I'm gone quite deeply, but this course is also pushing me to take my consciousness even deeper as I'm guiding you, but a super conscious date in Sanskrit is called Turia. And the remarkable thing is that Turia the state of consciousness that's, you know, includes all of the other states is one where there becomes no difference between waking and dreaming state, you're able to just simply navigate and move in between the two Not really needing any more that we think is sleep for rejuvenation. In the yoga nature state we activate the body's innate healing and rejuvenating capacities.

So that's, that's huge, that say 15 minutes of yoga nidra is equal to an hour of deep regenerative sleep. So when we get into that some of the hour long practices, that's four hours of deep, rejuvenating sleep, real sleep, most people sleep and they never actually rejuvenate. Another study has been done on children and helping children to improve their learning capacity. So the school systems are set up kind of in an antiquated way where, you know, someone who's bright might be able to take in the information and regurgitate it by memories, someone who's a little less bright, some children are not able to remember and so they they Four do poorly. And this is really separating people when education can be actually effortless. Now it's been found through utilizing the yoga nidra practice with children and similar practices that help one to get into a relaxed, receptive state, that learning even languages, other languages.

But learning any new material can be easily and readily absorbed in this relaxed yoga neutral state. So there's studies in the back of the book talking about this one study was done with a very stubborn child, a stubborn boy who didn't want to learn and the yogi would basically wait till he fell asleep. Three minutes after he fell asleep, he would start the course that was languages he was trying to, to learn and then he would repeat teach the course to him in the daytime while he was awake but not really paying attention, but that way it got back into his conscious mind as well which is an important aspect if you're going to learn during Yoga nidra you need to repeat this material while waking, but he did this over a period of time and the child picked up on all the information and according to the studies in the book now speaks to like 11 languages and you know, it was a very brilliant child but all of this learning is taking place while the child was relaxed and asleep even.

So some of these stories in here are fantastic. The children in certain schools have been glued This is in Europe. The study in here put into a relaxed state in a reclining chair and talked into this relaxed state fed the material and children's learning improved remarkably In the first few days, just you know, from 17 to 30%, and then rose even therefore after that, so they've shown that the longer that you practice this sort of learning that the more you retain. So the effortless learning practice is applied by Dr. Georgie Lozano. She's a Bulgarian psychologist and basically helping children to reawaken the desire to learn. And I think that's something that we've kind of missed out in in the us right now is, you know, putting kids on a lot of medications and behavioral adjustment classes and, you know, programs rather than addressing that we really have a poor way of educating right now.

And Yoga nidra is helping to revolutionize that so as soon as more information is out, and more studies are out and available about that, which is something I'm very interested in sharing, then this is really going to change education. All around.
