Module 3: Housekeeping and Maintenance Best Practices (Chapters 19-20) and Certificate Instructions

When a guest arrives at your STR unit, does the exterior and interior look like the listing photos? And when they enter the home, does it smell fresh and look clean? And what about the beds? Does it look like "somebody's been sleeping in that bed," or does it look invitingly fresh and comfy? This lecture discusses housekeeping and maintenance tips for the entire STR.

In this module, we will:

• Identify routine housekeeping management procedures and systems.
• Understand procedures for guest check-in, check-out, inspections, trash control, and incident reporting.
• Explore documentation procedures between guest stays.
• Discuss what a housekeeper should do when finding damaged FF&E in the home.
• Review soft goods and linen protocols.
• Discuss Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) standards for cleaning and sanitation.
• Define deep cleaning.
• Introduce work order systems.
• Understand the importance of regular maintenance check-ups and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Introduce work order systems.
• Explore tools, devices, and tips for cleaning and maintenance within an STR setting.

This is the final module in this seminar. After completing the Module 3 lecture video and quiz, students who have earned a score of at least 60% on the three module quizzes can proceed to the Seminar Exam test site.
