In this video, we're just going to look at drawing out dotted nodes and our dotted wrist equivalents of those notes as well. Of course, our first dotted note is the dotted half node, which just looks like a half node, of course with a dot next to it, and that is equal to a half mode plus a quarter note. Next, we have a dotted quarter node. and the value of that is obviously a quarter note plus an eighth note. Lastly, we have a dotted eighth note and the value of that is an ace load Plus a 16th note. Now the next thing we want to do is just write out the example from the video before.

So we want to draw our treble clef with the octave below symbol. And we want to put our time signature. Of course we don't have a key signature and we can even fill in the temper 60 beats per minute. Now we want to just divide the stave up into four bars. double bar line to show that the examples finished. Now in the first part, we have a dotted half note on the node C. Followed by a quarter note, to make up the bar.

This obviously takes care of beats 123123. And this is on the fourth beat. In bar two, we have a dot coordinate, followed by an eighth note. And then that same phrase repeated again, a dotted quarter note followed by an eighth note. So of course, this takes care of one and two, and this is the end of two, three and oops, that was three and four and In the third bar, we have a dotted eighth note, followed by a 16th. Note.

Now notice what we've done here is that we've actually joined the two with a common flag. And then to show that this is a 16th. Note, we obviously need two flags on this one, one flag on the eighth note, and two flags on the 16th note but they are joined, and then that is followed by a coordinate and then the same phrase again. dotted eighth note, followed by a 16th note, single flag for the eighth note, double flag for the 16th note, and then a quarter note to end the bar. Now in the final bar, we have a dotted quarter note followed by an eighth note. So that's obviously similar to the second bar, and then we have a dotted eighth note followed by a 16th note.

And then we end the bar with a coordinate. So that would be one and two, and three and, and that would be obviously the fall. Now, while you're getting used to the dotted notes, it does help to count, count them, but eventually what you what you'll find is that you actually start to understand the feel of the dotted nodes as opposed to mechanically counting through them. When you have a dotted quarter note, followed by an mode. It has this field that will count the first one and two and one and two and one and two. And so if you if you just carry on with that phrase.

So you'll have one and two and three and four and one and two and three and four. So it has this sort of feel a looking feel. Now, the dotted eighth note followed by 16th note has a similar field, it's just that it's squashing the field into half the space if I was to just draw couple of these So obviously, the way to come back would be one E and two E and three E and four E. And that's very similar to the feel of the dotted quarter note followed by a float. It's just that this is taking half the time as this. And if you want to extend that, this is taking double the time, that a dotted quarter note followed by an eighth note would it's still 1234123412 341-234-1234 and 1234 and one and two E and three and four, the dotted notes all other similar feel it's just that there longer and shorter versions of each other, if that makes sense.

So you'll begin to understand that sort of limping feel that these dotted notes have, the more use them. The next thing we want to do is have a look at the dotted rest equivalents of all of these dotted notes. So first of all, we have the dotted half wrist. So we have a half, half wrist, and then it just put a dot next to it. So that's like a half wrist plus a quarter wrist. The next one we have is a dotted quarter wrist.

And that is obviously equal to a dotted rather a quarter rest plus a an atheist. And the last one, of course is the dotted eighth wrist Which is an eight rest plus 16th rest. Next, what we're going to do is we're just going to, instead of using the dotted modes, we're going to use the dotted rest equivalence In the next example. So we're going to just do everything as before. Okay, so what we want to do is we want to replace this dotted half note with a dotted half rest instead. put that there, wanted half wrist and then we're going to fill in the quarter note as usual.

Can want to we see a dotted quarter note so we want to put a dotted quarter arrest instead. And then we want to follow that with an eighth note. And then once again, we're going to do the same thing. Quarter wrist followed by an eighth note. In bar three, we want to have a dotted eighth wrist followed by a 16th note. So dotted a twist, a twist followed by a 16th note and then we have a quarter note and then we want to do the same again.

Okay, and then the last part, we see a dotted quarter note once again, so we want to dotted quarter rest followed by an eighth note, one a dotted eighth wrist, followed by a 16th note and then finishing the ball with a coordinate. So it's 123412 and three, four and one e and a two, three and a 412. And three and four.
