It is not at all unusual in a competitive job market for an HR manager to receive more than 1,000 résumés in a single online job posting. It does not matter if you are responding to an online advertisement or giving your résumé to a recruiter. If your résumé doesn't stand out from the crowd, your chances of getting the interview are slim to none.

After all, the goal is to convince prospective employers to grant you an interview - in 30-seconds or less.
