DESCRIPTION: Ask: What does it mean to “edit” our movie

To clean up the frames and remove any frames that shouldn’t be there.
To insert additional visual cues to help the audience understand the story, i.e. placards.
To record and add dialogue over the action. Duplicate frames if needed to add time for conversations between characters.
To add sound effects.
To add titles, credits (Need 20-40 frames on the screen to be readable.)
Duplicate frames, clips, or scenes.
Move scenes by dragging and dropping, or selecting and using Copy and Paste.

Discuss editing by locating the exact frame to remove.
Emphasize the importance of going slowly and involving everyone in the editing process.
Remind students that anything deleted is gone forever, so this step must be done with care and attention. Additionally, they should not delete any scenes that are essential to the story, even if they have a flaw such as a hand in the shot, unless they can be easily reshot immediately.
