DESCRIPTION: Separate into production groups.
Instruct groups to pull out storyboards, scripts, lists of storyboard elements, and all backdrops and figures for their movies.
Remind groups to rehearse scenes before beginning to film.
INSTRUCTOR NOTE: If groups are moving through the filming too quickly, slow them down by breaking up the story and making them focus only on filming the beginning for 10-30 minutes, then only on filming the middle for 10-30 minutes, then only on filming the end for 10-30 minutes.
Review movies so far and compare to storyboards. Suggest improvements such as stretching out a scene or re-filming a scene that was poorly captured in the viewfinder.
Remind students that the quality of their movie will not be as high if it is too short to tell their story. It’s better to capture too many frames than not enough. They will be able to return and delete unwanted frames during the editing phase, but they should NOT delete frames during the filming phase.
