DESCRIPTION: Direct students to make a 3-10-second stop motion animated film of a parade of figures moving across a stage.
Emphasize that this is a chance to practice the software to see how stop motion works by making a very quick recording of movement. This practice clip will not be used for anything else and will not be included in their final movies.
Students do not need to be in their final production groups for this exercise. Weeklong camps may also create a single backdrop to use for this practice. Otherwise, just use plain tri-fold presentation boards as the sets.
Direct each student to choose an object to be in their parade. Small figurines 2-4″ tall work well for this, such as plastic army figures, barn or zoo animals, Matchbox cars, dollhouse dolls, etc. 
Divide students into the smallest groups possible according to the number of iPads available to use.
