Welcome to hooks flows and funnels. My name is George Beverley. And in this lesson, we're going to talk funnels. And specifically, we'll ask a pretty brutal question. Why build funnels? To answer that question, I've got two statistics that I want to show you and talk you through.

The first statistic is what percentage of people who visit a website actually go on to convert? And when I say convert, I mean by signup or perform some type of transaction? The answer is 3%. Yep, just 3%. So if we look at the math, the percentage of people who visit but didn't convert on the website is 97%. That's a huge amount of visitors.

Now, I'm not saying it to scare you, because there is some commentary behind those statistics. And if you think about an analogy, in the real world, let's think about you visiting a shop, you've got an idea that you're looking for a particular product, you might go into the shop, pick up the product, have a look, check the price, probably walk out again, you might go to another shop, do the same thing, maybe you're actually going to a website, see if it's cheaper there. Who knows. The point is that you're not always ready to buy the first time you visit a shop. And the same is true when people hit websites. And that's the reason why we build sales funnels because of that 97%.

If you can capture some data, even if they do leave, and at least you can start to bring them back and nurse them down the funnel when the time is right for them to buy. And let's face it, a might not always buy from you. But when you have data and you bring them back to the website at the right time using the right messages, you go From your hooks, taking them through the right flows and you know where they are, and you'll stand a better chance of converting them. So why build sales funnels because not everybody will buy from you on your website, the first time they visit, we need to bring them back, take them down the funnel at the right time so they can buy when it's right for them. And I'm not talking about just capturing emails and spamming people. I'm talking about understanding where they are in the sales process using the right messages and the right offers to help them convert when it's right for them.

I hope that makes sense. I'll see you in the next lesson.
