Hi, welcome to hooks flows and funnels. My name is George Beverley. And in this screencast, we are talking flows. And I want to show you a really powerful tool that can help you validate flows once you've built them. So cast your mind back to the previous lesson, when I took you through a really simple example of what a flow might look like from the initial hook all the way through to the conversion point. And we also showed using little dotted lines and red arrows where users might drop out of the flow, they might just leave the site.
What I want to show you now is how you can actually visualize that using hard data collected from Google Analytics. So what you're looking at is the behavior flow of Google Analytics. It does all sorts of other wizzy stuff in terms of the types of people visiting your site, the agenda, the age, the location, everything else, but I just want to focus on behavior flow. So what we've got here is landing page. So almost the start of the journey, and then the second third interactions thereafter. So think about the fact that your users are beginning their journey here.
They are arriving on the homepage here. So this big green area shows that most users on surprisingly hit the home page. And they then might go on and click here and here, or they might branch off and click here and here, but have a look at these red marks here. This shows the actual drop off points. So this is where users are dropping out of the flow. So at last numerically, using data from Google, you can see this is where they leave and this is where they're clicking through.
So we know that they're leaving at this point so we can do something about that. We can Make sure that we can somehow direct them before they leave here. So this tool is a hugely, hugely powerful piece of software that you can use once you built those flows to actually validate whether or not what you guessed what you hypothesize is the right solution. Google Analytics is free. It does take a bit of getting used to it's quite technical in places but there's lots and lots of stuff out there lots of tutorials about how to use it. So I would really, really encourage you to get analytics installed onto your website and start measuring these particular flows.
I hope you found that useful. I hope it wasn't too technical, but believe me, please stick with it because this is a great way of measuring and validating your user flows. I will see you in the next lesson.
