DESCRIPTION: Hungry babies will choke when eating too quickly. Feed the babies when they start to give out feeding cues. It is already too late when they start to cry. If the babies are crying, try to calm them before feeding.
The common posture to breastfeed the babies is to carry them in their mother's arms in a cradle or a cross-cradle position, care in mind the babies&rsquo; breathing when feeding, and observe the baby's facial expressions while feeding. The mother may also try other positions such as the football hold or the side-lying ways to breastfeed the baby, since the cradle position may not be the best to fit most of the mother and the babies for a good latch.
When bottle-feeding the newborns, cradle the babies in the arm and avoid lying flat. Insert the nipple from the corner of the mouth slowly to prevent the milk from flowing to the throat or overflowing into the mouth in a sudden which causes choking.
