DESCRIPTION: Diaper rash is a skin irritation that occurs in the diaper-wrapped area of ​​infants and young children. Usually, diaper rash is caused by urine and feces coming into contact with the baby&rsquo;s sensitive skin. Most babies will have experienced it before they are toilet trained.
The most common cause of diaper rash is skin contact with urine and feces. This is called "irritant diaper dermatitis" and usually occurs when the baby has diarrhea. The most common cause is the buttocks and thighs. Underwear, plastic pants, or diapers do not help keep the skin dry and will make the rash worse.
Diaper rash can also be caused by a yeast infection (candida). This fungal infection tends to appear on warm and moist areas, such as skin folds.
