DESCRIPTION: Milk ducts can be clogged due to various reasons like incorrect breastfeeding position or tongue-tie in the baby that may cause difficulties during lactation and will eventually develop Mastitis.
Swelling should be treated at the beginning when there are certain areas of soreness or lumps in the breasts. Otherwise, inflamed milk ducts will develop mastitis and the breast pain will have a negative impact on breastfeeding. Parturients are suggested the following to prevent mastitis:

Ensure that the proper breastfeeding posture is most suitable for the baby or try other postures when the baby is not satisfied.
Breastfeed every four hours or more frequently is suggested
Avoid the use of pacifiers which will prevent babies from sucking the breast for longer
Avoid tight bras that will give pressure on the breast
Breastfeed the baby for at least 20 minutes on each side to provide the baby with the most nutritional values of breast milk
