Hi there. Let's think about purpose now. It's important to know why we're doing things. What our motivation truly is. Having a meaningful intention, a personalized intention to you will strengthen your practice and you'll have more benefit from it. Think of it as a signpost.
Which direction are you going? To ask yourself? What do I hope to gain from meditating? What do I hope to gain from this stress proofing course. Be specific. You can write this down in a journal on a post it note, put it on the mirror on the fridge to remind you every day why you're doing this.
Some days it's it can be difficult to find the motivation. Oh, I don't want to do meditation today. I don't want to sit. Oh, I don't want to eat my bagel. mindfully that's normal, it happens we resist things. After a while, this will just become normal for you.
Takes a while to build a new habit takes some time. So a little reminder, like your intention in a place that you could see it can help you stay motivated. Or if you have a way that of staying motivated that you know, please feel free to use it. Just really clarify this. What is your intention with this course? And what is your intention with meditating in general.
An important note is that sometimes purposes change. For example, when I started meditating, I just wanted to feel sane again. My mind was going like a windmill constantly when I was asleep. When I was at work when I was at home, I was always thinking I was always exhausted. I was incredibly unhappy. And booze wasn't helping, you know, escapism wasn't helping distractions, they weren't solving what was going on.
They were addressing the real issues. So when I started meditating, my purpose was I want to feel calm for a little bit, just a little bit. And I did. And then my purpose changed. The more and more, I meditated, and I learned about meditation, I read about Buddhism, which is what really speaks to me. So purposes can change.
And that's, that's wonderful, let them change, but then change your purpose at the end of this course, or maybe in a few months, and a year might be very different from where you are now. That's showing that we're growing. We're changing. So, take as long as you like for this and I'll see you in the next video.
