As a subject matter expert in all things Security and Emergency Management, you will be asked to develop and deliver security awareness training sessions at your organization to anyone from senior executives to frontline staff. Some topics you will encounter or asked to present on are ones that you may identify as necessary to communicate can include the importance of control of access to restricted areas, the necessity to properly protect and safely store and destroy confidential documents, what to do in case of fire, flood or other emergencies, or how security services work. So such things like the Lost and Found services in the building, computer security policy and firewalls are using various life safety devices installed around the facility. You may also be asked to conduct drills to test levels of emergency preparedness and reinforce skills. These drills can include fire drills, which by law must be carried out at least once per year.
Medical emergency drills, bomb threat response drills strike or workplace stoppage drills and others. The internet and especially YouTube are a great teaching tool with some of the best educational videos to be used as training aids while delivering security awareness training.
