The scheduling managers job is arguably the toughest and most important in the contract security industry. While some proprietary security operations may not have staff devoted to scheduling contracts security companies rely very heavily on scheduling managers and their talent at scheduling people onto shifts. The scheduling managers role is centered around three duties. Scheduling people for shifts, ensuring people are being paid correctly for hours worked, and ensuring that invoices are generated correctly for hours of service performed. Some of the toughest challenges that these people face on a day to day basis are scheduling challenges, such as no staff available or no staff willing to take a particular shift. legal challenges such as the requirement to provide staff with 11 hours of break between shifts, financial challenges, such as the overtime factor, which is a loss to the contract security Company, which is often the only recourse to addressing open posts or filling in shifts, and technical challenges such as confusing, buggy and error producing scheduling software.
