Managing emergencies is no small feat. emergencies may develop quickly and may push any person in charge to his physical and mental limits. When emergencies take place, the security manager as well as other operational management staff, such as managers responsible for maintenance, sparking, cleaning, business operations, health and safety and others are heavily relied upon by frontline staff, executive members, and the stakeholders of the business and clients or customers of the enterprise. There are many types of emergencies and while people cannot predict with accuracy the next time a specific emergency will occur. three separate plants can be developed to help deal effectively with emergencies, save lives, minimize impact to the business and establish quick recovery and continuity processes in place. These three plans are the emergency management plan, or EMP, and this plan addresses the duties and responsibilities of employees during an emergency.

For example, In case the fire security staff will assist with evacuation maintenance staff will reset the fire panel with the fire department, etc. business continuity plan or BCP. And this plan addresses how a business will continue operating once an emergency has impacted it. For example, remote work or an alternative facility can be designated for employees to utilize. Their version of supplies needs to be discussed and a vendor communication plan to be developed, etc. disaster recovery plan or DRP.

This plan addresses how a business will recover from disaster for example, guidelines for cataloguing and cleaning up of salvageable equipment, replacement of key people who may have been injured or killed and restoration of facility services. Once these three plans are developed. And these plans should address all types of emergency likely to impact your operations and emergency management suppliers should be selected at these suppliers are able to provide critical services during emergencies. such as mobile kitchens, workstations, accommodations and showers, airlifting or mass transportation of staff and clients from affected areas and manpower to secure impacted areas or for labor disruption, emergencies and other types of critical time sensitive services. Once that has been ironed out, you should develop your regular drill schedule awareness, training, promotions, and communication to make sure that people are aware of the plan, understand the rules and above all, that they're able to preserve their safety during emergencies.
