It is important to keep your employees trained and up to date on their job skills. Many skills for which security officers initially receive training such as providing automated external defibrillator service or resetting local fire panels are not practiced frequently and can be easily forgotten. There are some excellent online training platforms and great local instructors who can offer scheduled and ad hoc refresher training on any of these and other skills. It is good practice to make training an essential part of your budget sometimes and for professional development. You may consider sending people off site to take courses that recognize establishments as well. Two other quick points in training.
The first it needs to be regularly tested for quality so you may want to run test scenarios with your staff on whether on what they've just learned. drills and exercises are excellent for this. The second it needs to be tracked properly so that staff are not receiving too much or not enough training for any specific subject. You may eventually want to assign a subordinate to be your training officer who will look after the proper delivery and tracking of training within your department.
