Welcome back. In this video we're going to look at another method that helps move blocked energy, and it can help produce depression. It's called tapping. Now what is tapping? It's also called EFT. EFT is short for Emotional Freedom Technique, and it's also called tapping.

It uses the same meridian system used in traditional Chinese acupuncture to treat emotional and physical ailments. It's the same one that's been used for over 5000 years. So when your energy is flowing properly, you should experience full health and well being. When it gets stuck. You experience illness and disease He's stimulating these points with acupuncture needles or finger pressure can unblock the point and get the energy moving again. Tapping on the meridian points on the face not only helps clear the blocked points, but it also reduces levels of cortisol in the body when you're under stress.

So you can tap with one finger or two. You can tap with both hands or just one, you can do one side of the body, or you can tap on both sides of the body. The meridians run up and down both sides of the body. So any way you choose will cause some form of change. Now I have a disclaimer I need to say here. Please take responsibility for your own well being if you choose to tap along well I'm confident than tapping along with me in this video can provide benefits.

I make no claims as to what if any benefits you will receive and while EFT gets impressive results in treating physical Call and psychological issues. Not everyone will benefit in the same way. I'm not a doctor and the information presented here is not intended to replace appropriate treatment by a physician or mental health care professional. EFT is still in the experimental stage and while I growing number of professionals are adopting it, I can't claim it's risk free. I'm unaware of anyone actually experiencing negative side effects from using this technique. But different people require different care and depending on the number of variables, like how long you've had migraines for how long you've had depression for, it's possibly you could uncover some deeper issues within the process that we won't be able to address in this video together.

So if you do suffer from clinical depression, or you have suicidal thoughts, you need to see a professional and consider this video only use an aid. I recommend that you consult a Qualified Health Practitioner prior to using any new technique if you've had a long, deep depression, now that we're clear on that, let's keep going. Tapping is good for anxiety based problems. There's not always the same results for depression. Unless it's anxiety based depression. Depression can take more than just a few rounds of tapping.

So if you don't seem to get a shift after a week or two of daily tapping, it's a really good idea to see your doctor, you need to check for physical things too. You need to check your thyroid if you haven't done that already. And just see if that's the source of your depression. You may need to add exercise, nutrition and vitamins to get better results from your treatments. Now, let's look at some of the common thought patterns that come with depression. When you're depressed, that feeling gets applied across the board to everything that pervades every area of your life.

Thoughts like this will last for forever, it will never end. When you're feeling good, you think it'll pass. But when you're in that block negative, depressed thinking, you think it's forever. You blame yourself for everything. You even blame yourself for having the negative thoughts. You have to move the energy in your body to lift your mood.

Tapping will help lift your energy, but you'll need to take those other things I mentioned into account too. So to recap a little, there are three areas of thought with depression. It's pervasive. It cuts across all areas. It just affects everything. So everything is horrible.

It's persistent. You think that this is going to last forever? And you personalize it. Everything's your fault. Everything always and never are words that might help you take notice of this Extreme thinking pattern, you can apply tapping straight to this thinking pattern. I'm never going to get over this, this is never going to end.

Put your attention on that thought, and then follow where that goes. Now another thing to try is to exaggerate the thought. So if you have the thought everything is hopeless, nothing is going right. Put your focus on those thoughts and then exaggerate. Everything is always hopeless. Nothing ever goes right.

I'm never ever going to get better. It's never ever going to change. If you get a shift from exaggerating your thoughts, then you're on the right track. You'll actually start to stop believing that it's true. But if you find you're doing this and it's not shifting, you may have some more serious depression. need professional help.

If it seems to get worse, then absolutely seek professional help or add something else to your program like exercise. So, by tapping on your negative thoughts, changing your negative chemicals in your system, your feeling should start to shift. So pick just one area to focus on. Put your attention in your body and sense into your body into your breathing. And see if you feel any constriction or tension. As you tap, keep your attention in those areas.

You may notice the sensations loosening or shifting. Steve wells, an EFT down under expert recommends continuous tapping when you have depression. There are meridian points on the fingers that you can tap when you're out in public. The fingertips points can be good for this. There's there's a good tapping point on the side of the thumb on the palm side. There's a point on the index finger level with the nail, the middle finger level with the nail.

He also uses the ring finger and the little finger and it's all level with a nail, you can use the thumb of the same hand to tap on these finger points. You can even use both hands at the same time to get more stimulation happening. So the thumb just drops down and taps the index finger level with the nail. You can use the thumb and tap on every finger at the nail bed. And you can do it under the table so you can tap without many people noticing. What I prefer to do is press and hold the point so you can even just press n Hold the points.

Any meridian stimulation you can do is going to help you shift your energy and get it moving. And that's what you need to do to get that low mood to lift. You need to get your good energy moving and release some of the negative energy. You can tap using words, or you can just tap, just tapping will also shift energy. Try it for a couple of weeks and see if you get a sustained lift in your mood. If you do, you're on the right track.

If you just do it yourself, and it doesn't feel like your mood is lifting. Perhaps working with someone qualified will help shift the energy more depression can overwhelm your energy system. If you've had depression for a long time. This can be very tricky. So again, you can use words or you can just hold the negative thought in your mind while you're tapping your fingers. And this way, you can do it in any situation.

No one can hear you yet you're still shifting Your energy. Just put your attention on what you're aware of. If you think in pictures, then you can focus on the image in your mind. Sometimes words might distract you from that. But just keep your focus on your image. Remember to keep your awareness in your body and feel what happens.

So tap as often as you can. Don't overthink it and see if your energy shifts. I suggest keeping a log or a journal just like a Fitbit can motivate you to do your steps. A log can help you see your progress. So keeping a log of your mood and rating your mood on a scale of one to 10 if you can four times a day, just for a few weeks to see if a pattern take shape. You cannot tapping into your daily routine by anchoring it to some routine you already do.

Like the first few minutes when you wake up, or the last 10 minutes before you go to bed. These are perfect times for you to tap. But keep it light because you don't want to bring up anything tip setting right before bed. You can do it after a shower or after brushing your teeth. These are also really good times for you to anchor in a short tapping session. Exercise is normally recommended as a treatment for depression.

So doing a tapping session while you walk is also a good idea. If disturbing thoughts are waking you up in the middle of the night. This is also a good time to tap. And one more thing. every session doesn't have to be working with your deepest issues. You can just work on anything that comes up that upsets you even slightly.

So you don't always have to focus on a huge problem when you're doing tapping. It just helps to get your energy flow And get that good energy moving. It's about forming a new habit to help change your patterns. Now to recap, there are three ways you can do tapping. There's a whole sequence that we're going to go through in just a minute. The meridian points on the side of the hand called the karate chop on the inner eyebrow above the nose, at the side of the eye, under the eye, under the nose, under your mouth, on your collarbone and about four inches under your armpit, on your bra line, ladies and then the top of your head.

The second one is using your thumb on the fingers and for a little more pressure, this is when I prefer on the fingers this kind of pinching pulling the nail beds Now to the process. This can be done at any time of the day. And just a warning This is my interpretation of the process rather than what might be called official EFT. That being said, I hope you enjoy this video and find it beneficial in lifting, not depression you're feeling. If you do it consistently, it'll become a habit. And that's a lot easier than you might think.

First, what you need to do is rate your depression on a scale of one to 10 with 10 being intense, so that you can monitor it and see if there's a shift later. For example, if you think of the phrase are not good enough, and that feels really, really true for you, then that would be a 10 if you say it but it doesn't really feel true at all. That would be zero or one We all tend to be somewhere in between on any given day. So Ray yourself on how true that belief is for you right now. So today I'm about a six out of 10. Step two is tuning in.

One tapping process includes using two negative questions, and one positive question to help you set up your intention to get where you want to go. I love this idea. Close your eyes after I say these questions, tune into your body, feel into your body and let the answers come to you. Begin by asking yourself, is there anything causing me to feel depressed, stressed or overwhelmed? And if so, what is it so I can release it right now? Pause the video if you need more time than I'm allowing I'll keep going.

The other question is, are there any other negative emotions dragging me down? And if so, what are they so I can release them right now. Then the positive question to ask yourself is, what positive emotions am I choosing now? So acknowledge where you are right now feeling depressed, and choose what you'd like to feel now. Happy, happier and content, freer, lighter, peaceful, calm. Okay, step three is the process.

So now we're going to start tapping on the karate point, this is on the side of your hand. We're going to repeat the phrase three times to get started. Okay. So you just repeat after me or hold it in your mind. Even though I feel so depressed, I choose to love and accept myself fully. Even though I feel terribly depressed, I choose to love and honor myself fully.

Even though I feel depressed, I choose to deeply and completely love, honor and accept myself fully. Now tapping on the eyebrow, I feel totally depressed. Continue tapping side of the eye. All of this depression I've had for so long. under the eye, I'm really feeling down under the nose. I just want this feeling to go away.

Under the mouth, I am depressed. It sucks the life Right out of me, you can use your own words. I'm feeling depressed, it drains the life right out of me. A collarbone. You can do one side or both sides, whatever feels right. All these feelings of depression.

I just don't want to do anything. I hate feeling so down under the armpit. I'm so tired. Tired of this whole thing, top of the head. All these feelings of depression. I can't seem to help it.

Now there are a few ways you can do this. You can take a little pause here. Or just continue to pause. Just take a nice deep breath and continue. You can also take a nice deep breath and let out a big sigh Or you can breathe in through your nose as deeply as you can. And then let the breath out really powerfully, and make a sound.

So I'll give you an example. See what feels best to you right now. And let's continue. Now tap on the inside eyebrow. This is where we start when we continue. So on the eyebrow.

Oh, maybe I'm beating myself up for feeling depressed. side of the eye. Like it's my fault. I just want to make it go away under the eye, and I really want to choose love and accept myself. under the nose, even when I feel depressed under the most This is a really good time to love and appreciate myself. pause for a moment and feel into your body.

Were you feeling this depression, keep breathing and then continue on the collarbone. I choose to love and forgive myself or pet under the arm for whatever thoughts I've been thinking to the head, the thoughts that are causing this depressed feeling for the third round begin with on the eyebrow. I wonder what part of me side of the eye like feel that I need to do this. under the eye. This part of me feel safer being depressed under the nose am I afraid of being happier? Under the mouth?

Am I afraid of feeling good? collarbone maybe it hasn't felt safe for me to feel good in the past. under the arm, maybe things happened in the past top of the head that caused me to feel safer when I was depressed for the next round to begin with on the eyebrow, I don't know if that's the case side of the eye. Just giving myself permission under the eye to look at all the possibilities under the nose, at what might be going on inside of me right now. Under the mouth I'm giving myself permission to move through this collarbone, helping myself to move through this. Because I know I can move through this under the arm, top of the head.

I've gotten through this before because I felt depressed before. And I got through that. Chances are there were times when I was depressed in the past, and I thought I would never feel better. And I've had real moments of happiness since then. So I have evidence that this will pass. I have evidence that no matter how depressed I feel right now.

There's definitely a possibility of feeling better in the future. Over the eyebrow. I'm allowing myself to get to that point side of the eye, allowing myself to feel better. allowing myself to move towards feeling better under the eye, because I deserve it under the nose, I love and appreciate myself. Even though I'm feeling depressed under the most, I'm allowing myself to feel better. collarbone there are things I need to do to make myself feel better.

Under the arm, what stops me from doing those things top of the head do I think I need someone else to do something or help me on the eyebrow for someone else controlling me and making me feel depressed side of the eye I choose to clear that belief under the eye. I choose to be open to the possibility under the nose, that whatever depression I'm feeling right now, under the most could very well be in my power to change, color balance. I'm allowing myself to change as much as possible under the armpit allowing myself to Clear, as much as possible, top of the head, clearing whatever I can right now. For the next round, begin with tapping just a little longer each point or do both sides. So on the eyebrow I'm now releasing all the sadness and trauma in all of the roots and the deepest cause of this depressed feeling side of the eye.

It's it's actually the side where I can't tap with my glasses there so if you can go higher, that'd be good. side of the eye. I'm now releasing all the anger and resentment in all of the roots and the deepest cause This depressed feeling under the eye. I'm now releasing all the fears and doubts in all of the roots and the deepest cause of this depressed feeling. under the nose, I'm now releasing all the embarrassment and humiliation in all of the routes at the deepest cause of all of this depressed feeling under the mouth. I'm now really saying all the shame and guilt in all of the roots and the deepest cause of all this depressed feeling.

Collarbone I'm now releasing any remaining fares in all of the routes, and the deepest cause of all of this depressed feeling armpit under your arm. I'm now releasing all the low self esteem in all the roots and the deepest cause of all this depressed feeling. top of head moving through all the pain on the eyebrow allowing myself to know I can feel better side of the eye, allow myself to know that I will feel better under the eye, and even giving myself permission to get there more quickly under the nose, clearing any reason for resisting not under the mouth, allowing myself to know there's a good feeling deep inside of me. And I'm uncovering it. Your pet, allowing those good feelings to grow more and more. top of head in body, mind and spirit.

Shall we do one more round. Okay for the next round. Begin with On the eyebrow, I am allowing peace and stillness into my body. side of the eye. I do not need to be controlled or overwhelmed by this under the eye, I can acknowledge it and then release it under the nose. I can allow peace and stillness into my body under the mouth and know that everything is okay collarbone, I can take it one step at a time.

On pet on the arm and know that I will find the answers. top of the head, I can allow peace and stillness into my body For the next round, begin with on the eyebrow. Today I choose to feel energized side of the eye. Today I choose to feel happier. under the eye, I am no longer overwhelmed under the nose, I have a choice as to what I want to feel under the mouth. Today I choose to feel happier collarbone and I acknowledge that I have this choice under the arm, I no longer have to be controlled by this overwhelm.

Top of the head, I can release it one moment at a time. One more round on the eyebrow, I can allow myself to feel happier side of the eye because I am in control of how I want to feel under the eye releasing all of this depression under the nose, I'm so excited to be able to choose my emotion today under the mouth, and now everything will be okay. I'm allowing myself to release all of the depression and overwhelm arm pet and I know that I am safe top of the head and know that everything is okay. Okay, let's stop here and take a nice deep breath in and just start Hopefully you'll feel a certain stillness. You'll feel peace and tranquility. You've reset your nervous system.

This is like a reboot for your nervous system in your brain. It's not about finding the right words or some magic script or playbook that you might need to have. So just allow the words that fit for you to come out. You can trust your intuition. acknowledge how you're feeling at the time, and acknowledge why you might be feeling it. If you have specific things that are depressing you and then as you reduce those triggers, you can choose to feel the way you want to feel today.

And that can be whatever you want. Now, just taking a nice deep breath in and allow all of that to sink in. Step four is to rate yourself again out of 10 on a scale of one to 10 how are you feeling now? Please get more support if you need it. If you're still not feeling good, that's not good enough. So go and find someone you can work with.

Go through the treatments to find something that works. depression can destroy your life. So you really need to take it seriously and do things that sustain you and build your life. Keep working until you find that. Now, this is certainly not intended to be a comprehensive handling of depression. I can only cover so much in a short video.
