Hi there, it's Steve King with you once again. And this time, I'm going to talk about the importance of safety before moving through to the exercises that are part of this course on PTSD. Cleaning the shock and trauma is very important, obviously, to be safe. So there is a bit of a disclaimer here because we want to make this as gentle as possible for you. So I know some of you will be members of some support groups that could be a and na. So obviously, you're used to perhaps being in a group situation as opposed to doing this just by yourself.

Or you're used to having potentially a sponsor someone that you can phone up and talk to have a coffee with that sort of thing to discuss some of the elements of what you're learning or processing as a result of being in one of those support groups. I would urge you to lead if a good friend know that you're going to be doing some work or if you have a sponsor of But they also know or a family member that you're comfortable with. So again, just in case you need some debriefing afterwards. So inform them of the journey you're about to undertake, you don't necessarily have to break down for them the story or what you're going to be working on so much as to suggest to them, you're going to be doing some work that you may need to debrief with them afterwards. Or just have someone there simply because you may just want to sit silently and reflect upon what has happened or part of your journey, but I'm just recommending you have someone on the sidelines, not in the same room unless you would prefer that to Okay, so please bear that in mind.

So you can ask them to support you can you call them that sort of thing if it's necessary, just so they're again, they're just in case so that can be a therapist, Counselor, psychologist, psychiatrist also. If you clear one memory, which is our aim is to clear one or more depending on What you are having to deal with here, it may allow for others to surface. In other words, there may be multi layered traumas or shocks that you're going through. So just be aware of that we will be using similar techniques or you will be able to learn once, that simple technique and the further technique for deeper work. And therefore, you may be able to deal with multiple layers, you may deal with one issue and relies on nowaday allows another one to surface. So you have to figure out well, whether that's okay for you to do is it now safe to move ahead because the timing should be in in a time that is safe for you.

So bear that in mind, obviously, you don't want to be sitting at work and having things coming up. But if they do, I lead you through some way to deal with that that's quite safe and comfortable. You just basically acknowledge it and deal with it when the timing is safe and the place is appropriate for you to do so. We will also be Looking at safety until conditions and the environment correct for you to do so insert reason. If you're by yourself, you get someone to support you at least but at the end of a telephone, or that you talk with your therapist or clinician, or sponsor, just for practical safety's sake. So please bear that in mind environment is is important as well for you to be able to do this sort of work, my hope would be it could be in the safety of your home, or in the office of whomever you work with.
