Welcome to developing creativity for business and self development. My name is Dr. Theresa stiles and in this course we're going to learn how to remove barriers that often block or limit our creativity. We're also going to learn strategies to help you improve on your imagination, your divergent thinking and your mental flexibility. We're going to learn mind mapping techniques and individual brainstorming and when to recognize and look for what inspires you to be more creative. As you can see, there's a quote in the upper left right hand side of the PowerPoint. Now, an essential aspect of creativity is not being afraid to fail by Edwin Land and this covers the fear of failure and we're actually going to talk about this in one of our modules later on.

But going back to Module One getting started. As you can see, creativity and innovation will improve your chances of success in business and in life. And fortunately, there are steps that we all can take that will inspire us and develop our creative mindset. So by changing the way that you think and overcoming your fear of risk, you will improve your creativity and change your life. And implementing these guidelines that we're going to cover within this module is actually one of the first steps to forever changing your creative process. Now, here are the course objectives.

And research has consistently demonstrated when clear goals are associated with learning, it occurs more easily and rapidly. So as you can see, you're going to be able to define creativity, you're going to be able to act with confidence. Engage in curiosity, stop acting out of fear, learn from introspection, which is also self reflection, and take risk.
