We are on to module five, improving your creative. Now developing a creative mindset takes time and work. Developing creativity requires flexibility and the ability to move away from rigid thought patterns that blind us from taking advantage of new ways to improve creativity. So changing the way that you view the world may not be comfortable at first, but it is worth the reward. Now, here is a quote from David Lynch. negativity is the enemy of creativity.

So once you start changing your mindset, right, your mindset from if this in that negative frame is going to stop you from being creative. So our goal is to get it to the point where we're get ourselves to where we change our mindset. Because once you change your mindset, right, everything is possible. So this is where we're Heading with this module of creative mindsets in order to change our environment. Now open mind right. So creativity requires keeping an open mind when faced with ideas you do not agree with.

And many people assume they are open minded but have strong negative emotional responses when they are faced with views that they do not line up with theirs. So you have to keep an open mind because depending on your open mind will depend on you understanding your own belief, right? That's that's reality, right? Keep an open mind demands understanding your own belief system. So which is it to do with when you have introspection, right? So we hold on to these belief systems that were probably passed through time and, and this is the way it is, this is the way it's going to be and nothing's going to change.

But you have to get out of that. Because that's where introspection and reexamining which is that self reflection, right? So, that is possible. When you have introspection. When you're able to reflect on yourself and examine yourself, then you're able to really re examine re examine your belief system. So having an open mind does not mean that you have to change your own belief Not at all.

You simply have to listen to other points of view, without automatically shutting people out. It is possible that you will find common ground with some people, and you will disagree with others and those who would disagree with you. And you're still able to learn from opposing points of view. Because after all, we don't know everything. So once you start challenging your thought process, right And stop holding on to something so tight, which is like that ideology, then you're able to understand others point of view. And that is a good thing.

Because it takes you from that whole subjective subjective way of thinking into objectivity. And data is necessary, because now you're able to go outside of your paradigm and to think outside of just your belief system. And you get different perspectives on other things. And that's how you grow. So once you start challenging yourself that allows you to move to the next level. Now, do not judge right so part of keeping an open mind requires refraining from making judgments.

And we're always making judgments there because with so much going on social media All of these things, it's easy to make judgments, right? Because speed information travels like the speed of lightning, because it's a digital age, right? So we are either encouraging people, we're passing emotional judgments, before we even have on the facts. We're sending stuff left and right before we sit back and go, Hmm, is this really true? Is this a credible source? Are we just taking it because it is posted there?

So it must be the truth. It must be how it is and, and so I agree with it, right? So it's easy to see people as two dimensional, right? And stereotypes based on a single opinion. Right? So rather than making snap decisions about people and viewing the world as black and white, take the time to appreciate different points of view, an idea that is so important because when we get outside of our norm, we get outside of even our community Then you're able to get others point of view.

So that's the wonderful thing I was saying about social media along with other things, right. But one of the things is, is so diverse, right? Although we may have, there are times where we are judging each other from an emotional perspective, but look at the various demographics and the cultures and the differences. So, that within itself, you want to use that as a strength, right? You want to be able to use all of those differences, because people aren't going to come with the same thought mine process right. Because the people come from different areas, different cultures, which means different perspectives.

So just because someone believes something that you do not does not make that person evil or enemy, okay? Do not make the mistake of allowing personal bias To keep you from learning something new, or developing relationships that will empower you. So that is important to remember. Remember that just because someone is coming from a different perspective, doesn't mean that they're evil. Doesn't mean that they're the enemy. It's just that's how they view the world.

So once we start to understand that and not take everything so personal, right, just because someone may disagree with you, does not mean that they're just a bad person, right? We are allowed to disagree and we're allowed to agree. You know, and I think sometimes when someone disagrees with us, like, Oh, I'm offended, but you should not be. You should be able to be objective to where you're able to hear all points of view because that's going to allow you To look at things from a different perspective, that's going to allow you to say, Hey, I never thought of it that way. Now you are allowing other ideas to come in. Not meaning that they're better than yours, right?

It's not about being better or not. But you're allowing other ideas to come in, that will broaden, broaden your perspective on things. And that's important. Because once you get accustomed to one thing, you begin to think that that's the only way and that is not true. And the more we begin to understand that, the more we can, we can allow ourselves to grow and allow ourselves to be understanding of others as well as accepting their viewpoints. So always remember that okay.

All right. So positive minds, right? So, remaining positive is essential to the creative mindset in everything we do. It is easy to focus on the negative aspects of life, because we are hardwired right to remember negative information. But this will only lead to depression. And self fulfilling prophecies are felt of failure.

So, it's really important to always find ways to improve positivity and change your mindset so that you can become more successful in what ever you do. So here are some things you can do count your blessings, right? focus on the things that you have to be thankful for in your life. And you may want to keep maybe keep a daily list of good things. So the poor from right, so you can kind of veer away from negativity. There is a song he says Count your blessings one by one.

And because now, when you count your blessings, you think of all the good things that you have been bestowed, right? All of the good things and the good times, so, constantly Count your blessings. But that because that's gonna allow you to continue to create and mold that positive mindset. Another thing, use positive affirmations. It may seem strange at first to many of you, but see positive affirmations are going to help you truly believe that the best is possible that you can do anything. So when you live there's enough negativity in this world.

So try something positive. When you have people that's coming along and they want, you know, getting your air and is negative and if it's not constructive, but destructive. You know, that's not the way to go. So a lot of times because of the way life is, because of everything that's going around in this world and all of the things, all of this, the negative energy that's out there, definitely try to embrace positive affirmations because that's going to help you throughout your day is going to help you to overcome those hurdles that may come into play. So that way, when you have a pile of positive affirmations, you're constantly embracing those, and you keep having those and it become a name right. So another thing is confront negative thoughts.

When facing difficult times, place the events and perspective. It is easy to overreact and facing the situation directly and honestly will prevent an unhealthy focus on the negative. So face them, confront them Move on, confront them and move on. Don't dwell with them. Don't dwell in that negative space, but just confront them for what they are, whatever they may be, and do better. Learn from them and do better, right?

Because you can't sit and just stay stagnant and negative energy, because the only thing that's going to come out from that negative energy is negative energy. Right? So, go ahead and confront those negative thoughts, and then you just move forward. You you get them out there and say, Okay, now here's the negative now, this is the positive, so I got to combat the negative. Now what can I do to change this to make it better? So asking why, you see, as we have already noted, rushing to snap dishes and decisions and judgments will actually hinder creative thought.

So rather than accepting everything at face value, it is better to question. Right? So question will increase creativity. How? Probably asking? See, it's important to question everything and that gets as many answers as possible just like children.

They question everything, right, everything under the sun. And as parents, we're like, oh, Chris, or he questions everything, but gets important because you're able to now find different answers right? different possible answers as many as possible. So children they they become molded a shape according to our thought process and according to our ideology, right. But when they're kids and they're, they're in that playful state and they're in engaged state never discovered state, right? They question everything.

Believe it or not, that's not a bad thing. Because see, so many of us do not question everything, that we take everything for face value, and we leave it right there. No, not kids. Kids are like, hey, how'd you come up with that? I remember my daughter when she was young, and she was saying, How do you know? Everything?

I said, How do you know? How do you know? Because? And then, of course, I would explain to her why I would. But see, that's important for us. So we don't take everything at face value.

And that's what kids do. They find different opinions. And we need to do the same thing. It doesn't necessarily mean you're validating yourself to different opinions, but you're just finding different ways of looking at information, right. So finding different opinions from different people and exploring the answers they provide. Why not?

Why not? And this was important, get outside of your norm. So taking the time to find answers will prevent any unnecessary confusion and allow you to see things from a different perspective from which will increase your creativity. So we are on our affirm affirmation activity as you can see, right I want you to write down a few affirmations that you can use to create a positive mindset. And please feel free to share like I always say, through Google Hangouts or through my email and share those with me and and and this way it may inspire others along their journey and we can actually share with each other. So definitely definitely write down a few affirmation Remember, this is for you.

This is for you to help you in your career. tivity process right. So the more activities like I mentioned that you do within the module, the more this is going to help you. So definitely do these activities before you move on to the next module. So we are on to our case study. Now, Margie was extremely opinionated.

She knew that she believed and she had no problem letting people know when they were wrong. At least in her opinion, her boss told her that she might learn more if she was open minded and less judgmental. But Marjorie already considered him to be an overly emotional fool, who was not always rational. She ignored his advice and continue to alienate the people around her and many employees fled her department, and soon she was only working with people who view the world exactly as you She did. Her department eventually lag behind others and her boss told her that they lacked creativity. So with that, just think about that, from that perspective, she was so one mind.

And so one sided right in that mind of hers that she couldn't see outside of herself. Right. And we have to so if you remember what I mentioned before, you got to get outside of yourself. That's exactly what needed to happen. But she chose not to follow that. Right.

So and because of that, her manager came back and say, Hey, Marjorie, you know, this is what you have is still within the other people around. So now, everybody lack creativity, because they begin to follow you. So this is why it's important to get other opinions and other ways of viewing things and exploring because that will help your creativity. So thank you. about this and and definitely reach out to me and let me know if you know just they're going to experience something like this kind of happened to you remember a time when something close to this happened, and you want to share, please do please feel free to share. And I welcome questions and comments and you know, and then we can talk about them through Google Hangout, so I'm looking forward to it.

So here is our synopsis here. Alright, so creativity requires keeping an open mind when faced with ideals that you do not agree with. And part of keeping an open mind requires judgment refraining from making judgments. Remaining positive is essential to the creative mindset and in everything we do. And here is David Lynch. negativity is the enemy of creativity and we are done with module five Make sure to email me or Google Hangouts if you have any questions.
