Alright, let's get this design ready for 3d printing. So I'm in. I'm in shading mode. Let's go back to layout. And the good thing about this style is that everything's really customizable. And you can slide and change these and make tons of different car variations.

You know, all willy nilly, let's go ahead and rename this, you know, maybe like custom, customized car. And before we kind of make it and kind of checklist, let's work on these wheels a little bit more, I think we could add some details to the wheel. So I'm just gonna select we'll go into edit mode. And then let's select the front faces here. So just make sure you're in face mode. And we can change our selection back to just select or even box select.

I like that one. And you can double click on the edge or just hit face mode and select both, you know the one side and the past the driver side and the passenger side and we're going to inset and just make the tires thicker. you'd like it to be. And then we're going to do our extrude trick in and notice, you know, don't go through the the wheel wheel there, but just go in kind of deep, and then you can scale it in or leave it open if you want. And that will also 3d print without supports. somehow we've got some cool, just add a little bit of details on the only car there.

So now what we need to do is check this for 3d printing. So we're going to duplicate our collection, duplicate collection, and then we can rename this, you know, toy car one, and you can make as many cars as you want. So the challenge is, once you make this one, you know, you can make your car in box form, you can make your friend's car, if you don't have a car or, you know, you could just do the car that you really enjoy or that you really admire, then that'll help you understand if you've got the concepts clear for these advanced Booleans and the kind of 3d printing trick here. But let's continue with our editing of the you know, kind of collapsing everything down. So we don't need a camera and we don't need our light. So let's shift click and right click to delete.

And let's just go ahead and collapse all of the modifiers. So we'll just click on each layer and apply, click on the next layer, you know apply all of those in order and do all of them. Some of them may not have any, some do. And there we go. So we've got everything now apply. And we really only need the wheels and the car.

So let's delete the other two layers. So now we just have the two layers that we need. And let's make sure you also turn off the original customisable layer. So we just see our new one down below here. And now we're going to parent the wheels to the car. So just click on the wheels and then shift click on the car and then hit command p to parent that and now when we scale, these layers will move together so I'm just scaling the car and the wheels are Following, and we want to scale that up until one of the dimensions is in 100.

So just keep on sliding until maybe the y value is 100. And just hit period on your numpad to pop out. And now we've got a reasonably sized car that we can 3d print. But now let's edit this. And since we have two layers, we have to edit them separately. So first, let's just do the wheels.

Go into edit mode, make sure you have it selected, and then go to Edit Mode. And then we're going to go to our 3d printing toolkit and check all and look at here zeros on everything except for the overhangs. But we're going to print that on the side. So I'm not worried about those. I'm gonna just go ahead and say the wheels are done. So let's rename that wheels.

And then I just do an underscore fixed. And I just do that just so I know what's fixed. And now let's go into the car and see if we're so lucky. So we'll do car edit. Make sure you have your car selected, go into edit mode, and then do our 3d printing toolkit. toolbox and check all and this one's not as good.

We do. We do have zero non manifolds and we have some intersecting faces. So I'm not sure up there they are, they're right there on the front of the grill. So that just means two polygons are kind of mesh together, I'm gonna hit intersect to get rid of any loose ones, and then check all that didn't really do anything. We could also select all go to mesh cleanup, and remove doubles. So that removed a few down there at the bottom.

But let's crank it up just a little bit. And we got a little bit more taken off. So let's check it now and see if that cleaned it up. Still have the intersecting faces. So something's going on here. There's polygons that are meshed in here.

Let's try and crank it up some more. And we'll check all still a little better but not really doing much. So it's still something that it is not liking some polygons are meshing. So let's select all. Make sure it's still all looks good all around, everything still looks pretty much the same. Let's try something else.

Let's go into mesh cleanup, remove loose or delete loose, still intersecting. So let's do let's try to single it out. So do shift H. And that will hide everything but the selected. And there we go, we've got this little triangle. So let's try and fix this. It may be like one of these points or going through that long skinny plane, something, something like that.

So let's go to point mode. And I'm just going to grab that little point and move it around just a little bit. Actually, let's lock it to the maybe the y axis and just ever so slightly. Now let's check and there we go. That fixed it. So sometimes you may have to do little things like that.

I think it would have 3d printed fine, but if you just want to be absolutely sure and get rid of all the defects, then that some of the things You may have to do. But let's go ahead and check the non plat faces here. So we can clean up those with the distorted cleanup crew. And notice that it re triangulated some of those if we recheck they are fixed. So I'm happy with that we've got zeros got some overhanging faces, but we are going to turn this on its side and 3d printed. Well, let's go ahead and rename this.

So we can call this toy car fixed. And that just helps me know that it has gone through the process of being fixed. But we still need to put these two files together, we could just kind of print them out separately, and then try and line them up in a slicer software. But why do that, we can just link them together or join them. So let's click on the wheels, and then shift click on the car. And then make sure you're in object mode, click the wheels and then shift click on the car and then do Ctrl J and that will join those together.

Notice the layers collapsed and then we can just Leave it name that. Now we can rotate this to R and y and then type it 90. And that will rotate it on its side. And now this is the magic trick. As long as it's flat and it has that 45 degree angle, then this will print like magic, no refs no support. Let's go ahead and export this out till the file, we want it to go into our final STL folder.

STL is our format, hit export, you'll get the confirmation. And let's open this up in our slicing software of choice. And there it is, we've got this adorable little cool car that will print with no reps, no supports and just roll off. You can do it with about 20% infill for your settings, no ref no support. And let's prepare for print and looks good so far. Let's just kind of scrub through this so you can see the magic at work.

So you can kind of see the the separation from the tolerances and that's the whole goal of this lesson is to make sure you have plenty of tolerances. For these wheels to be able to roll, once it's done 3d printing, and so sometimes they make up that you may have them too close together, you've made scaled down, and that messed up your tolerance ratios. super nerdy stuff, but yeah, you want it to have just a little bit of gap in between those and you can always experiment with this customizable design style that you just learned.
