In this video, we're going to learn how you can tailor the worksheet appearance to maximize your productivity. The changes that we are going to make here are not necessarily only aesthetic, but hopefully can actually improve the way that you interact and work within Excel. The first change that you can make can often help dissecting large and complex formulas, and that is to adjust the size of the formula. As you'll notice, by simply clicking and dragging, you can actually make the formula bar bigger or smaller. You can also click on the arrow on the right hand side to immediately make it bigger or smaller to defines us. only downside is that it locks up quite a lot of this real estate.

Next, is moving the Quick Access Toolbar. If you have a lot of commands on your QA, like I do, and sometimes on a smaller screen, they actually might get blocked out By the title of the workbook, we can in fact, place this underneath the ribbon, click on the drop down, and choose to show below the ribbon. And now we have the entire strip unimpeded by the name of the file. Once again, 30 downside is that it locks up a bit of the space that we normally have available for the big grid. So let's move that back. The most effective way of seeing more of the big grid and less of the commands is to show or hide the ribbon.

We can do this by using the command in the top right for the ribbon display options. We could choose to auto hide the ribbon, which, as you can see, takes it completely out of view, giving us a lot of screen space. If we click on the top up here, it then shows the ribbon. If we move away, that ribbon disappears and don't be too concerned because if you use your art as your trick of your keystrokes, all of the commands will appear. If however, this unsettles you somewhat, you can choose to show the tabs of the ribbon. And then once you click on the particular tab, those commands will drop down.

Once again, when you are within the spreadsheet, they will disappear. This view at least allows you constant access to it. You can also turn this on and off using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl f1. Another functional way to make use of the space available is to add information to the status bar, which we've seen before. Simply right clicking on your status bar, you can turn off a lot of settings and pieces of information that gets shown. So for example, I actually like to turn off the zoom slider, since I tend to use a shortcut for that.

We can also make our page look a lot cleaner. Suitable for things like dashboards, moving to the View tab, and turning on and off different elements. For example, gridlines can easily be turned on and off headings such as the row and column labels, as well as the formula. We can adjust the zoom level, as mentioned previously by holding down the control key and using the scroll wheel on our mouse, which is a great way to move in and out of certain zoom levels really quickly. And then, lastly, and this is certainly one that is only aesthetic, you can actually change the office theme and the background, moving to fall down to account and choosing the background as well as the type of theme that you'd like. I like to use the white theme, although many people like the new colorful theme that provides the specific colors of the application.

Excel being green. But as you can see, this certainly provides no functionality in terms of improved productivity. All it does is change the look and feel. But hopefully, you now know some of the basic adjustments that you can make to the overall environment to enhance your work within Excel. We'll see in the next video
