In this video, we're going to learn how to copy and paste multiple items at the same time. I need to copy and paste a bunch of cells, pictures and objects. How can I do this more efficiently? In this situation, somebody has created all of this information on the following for worksheets. We've got the cover page with our logo, a big title for the quarterly report and the quarter. We've got the data, we've got a chart, and we've got some explanatory notes.
The setup is actually quite difficult for a user because they have to navigate between each of these four separately. We would like to place all of this on a single dashboard, but that process is likely to be slow. Because I need to select the image press Ctrl C. Press Ctrl V to paste it back to the cover page. Select quarterly sales report. Paste and as you can see I'd have to do this for each of the different elements on the cover page, daughter chart and the notes. So how can we do this more efficiently?
It's a common misconception that you can only copy and then paste one item at a time to copy up to 24 items and keep all of those items within your computer memory, you simply need to open up the office clipboard, and it's as easy as clicking on the clipboard arrow in the bottom right hand corner of this clipboard group. Now, the great thing about this is that it's not only within Excel, the office clipboard will keep all of the items that you've copied across any of the applications. So let's see how this works. I'm going to select the image press Ctrl C. Can you see that that has been stored on our clipboard? I'm going to select quarterly sales report. And you might also notice in the bottom right, it tells us how many atoms of 24 we have.
I'm gonna say quarter four Move to data, select all of these cells, the chart, which is a different type of object, as well as the notes. Now all of these items have been copied to our clipboard. Moving to our dashboard, we can paste this very easy simply by selecting the location and then clicking on the item within the clipboard. So as you can see, that process was significantly quicker. And if you don't want to have to open up the clipboard every time by clicking on the error, simply choose this option to show the clipboard when you press Ctrl and see twice. So Ctrl N double tap see Net will copy the information, but also open up the clipboard.
And since now we have duplicated items on our keyboard, I want to delete this entry. I can either click Clear All or delete individually by clicking on the drop down and choosing delete. And finally, just to prove to you that this works across applications, I'm going to paste this within a presentation in PowerPoint. It's opened up the clipboard and all of that information is there. And as you can see, it even keeps all of the formatting from Excel. So this process is particularly quicker than doing individual copy and paste moving back between our applications or worksheets.
So now you know that you can actually copy and paste up to 24 items at any given point using the office clipboard. We'll see in the next video
