In this video, we are going to learn how to customize the ribbon as well as the QA. So let's start by looking at this process of customizing our ribbon. I'm going to move to any of the Ribbon tabs, right click, and then choose to customize the ribbon. As you can see, this brings up the Excel Options dialog box, and we are on the Customize ribbon tab. So you can also access this from that direction. You will notice on the left hand side is a list of all of the commands available in Excel.

But here we are choosing from any of the popular commands. We could choose from commands that are specifically not in the ribbon, or just choose to see everything. And on the right hand side, we have what our ribbon looks like. Here we have the ability to turn on or off any of the default tabs that are available. So for example, let's say I'm not really using Power Pivot at the moment, I can actually choose to turn it off We click OK, we don't see PowerPivot. We can also change the order in which these tabs appear.

But much more exciting than all of this is to be able to create our own customized tabs and groups. For example, I'm going to create a new tab. And I'm going to call this tab, speak options. And within this group, I'm going to add several commands. Choosing from all of the commands are the top s, which will stand to speak, and I'm going to move down to SP. I'm going to add some of these commands which relate to speaking.

And you'll learn about some of these in future videos. It's changed the order and click OK. You will not notice we have our own customers tab of the ribbon with these particular commands. We can turn this on or off quite easily, like we saw earlier. If you'd like to delete these, you can right click and choose to remove. Now that we've learned how to customize the ribbon, customizing the QA, it is even easier. We could right click on our QA and choose to customize it.

And it brings up the same kind of dialog box, except now on the right hand side, we see a view of what our current QA t looks like. Here we can select items and easily remove them or reorder them as appropriate. And choose the commands that we'd like to add and simply click Add. Once you click OK, those changes will have been committed. In addition to this, if you'd like to Select any items that exist on your ribbon and add them to your acuity. You can do so simply by right clicking and choosing to add to the Quick Access Toolbar.

And you can make quick removals by right clicking and removing from your Quick Access Toolbar. Now that you performed all of the different customizations, did you know that you can actually share those files by importing or exporting, which means if you work on multiple computers, you can move to the Excel options. To customize the ribbon or the QA and export all of these customizations to a particular file. Just choose the location and the easiest way to do this is to save it in one of your cloud storage locations, which means that as soon as you open it up on another PC, that file will be available to choose to import from that exact location. Once you import boarded on your new computer, all of those customizations will be there. So now you know how to customize your ribbon, turning on and off default tabs, adding your own tabs and groups, as well as customizing the queue at changing the order and all the different commands.
