On a less controversial note, bedtime is not the time to start winding down. Think about your evening routine as well, and how that leads to sleep. Use the sunset as your guide: What we want is a slow, gentle transition from an active day to a quiet night (shift workers will have to reverse or adapt this). Your evening routine will, of course, reflect your unique situation and personality, but you might want to include connecting with family or friends, eating a nourishing meal, cleaning up and preparing for the next day, and some kind of relaxing activity like knitting, reading or watching a film. If you exercise, do it earlier in the evening unless it's a gentle walk or some stretches or yoga.
