YR Welcome back, everyone. So before we did a layer two, right, where we did the VLANs, and the trunks and all that good stuff, where there's a layer three switch. So, we're gonna do a little bit different because, you know, we were talking about the modes of VTP, the different types of for the Version, Revision, no natural mode, or the switch, which is client, I mean, server client, transparent and off. So let's take a look right? At the course which, and we'll give it a name is your name, there's the right top switch. So we'll call it core.

Config, AWS name for Alright, so there's a layer three switch now. No big deal. I'll show VTP status. And we saw do show VTP status. Sorry. I always thought I was pretty much the same, right?

So the VTP version is already two, but we wanted to change the VTP version, right? And one or two. So we want to because we want this all to be to begin with to is a one that actually acts as a relay that will forward the advertisements. So we want that we want that to happen. And you can see right there that the operating mode is server. So let's create VLANs Is there any difference here?

VLAN 500. Name? administration. Okay. That's the name of that being that I want to assign it to anyone or anything like that is the core switch. So we're gonna assign it, we we created a new, more clear domain.

All right, so let's create a domain GP, this is the same thing, domain. Class. Right? So now for multiple eyes, but the VTP you see here VTP version two mode is disabled. What does that mean? We're ready.

If you look at the mode, the switches already server. Okay, but VTP v2 mode, disable what's going on there. And Peroni. These don't support for me. Okay, so it's gonna stay that way. So, really, I don't know when I come in is, that's right there.

I was just a packet tracer thing. Let's do a command n do show VTP stack. And he lives there, but they said there's no password. So let's create one VTP password and it will be Cisco. So now setting device VLAN database password to Cisco. So it means everybody needs to put in that password.

All right. Let's try on the port. So how you do that in layer three? So let's go to say int. Which ports are we connected to here? Oh, one and two, okay.

And zero slash one, dash two. range. Ain't range F Zero slash one, dash two. Okay. So switch port. Now what do you want to do?

What do you want to do? So do we say trunk? encapsulation, encapsulation, and then I want you all get that. Okay, I guess previous versions of it would give you both ISIL and donkey. So now we've actually told us, hey, we're going to trunk this port using this encapsulation. Okay, awesome.

Now those ports are Trump and we're to look at how to do show in Trump. You see that there is no port strong. And why is that? That's very interesting. Why that is we need to look at that. Because we can't have that.

We need to make sure that we chunk it. That should be trumped already. Alright, so either way we can do let's say, switch port. And you can see mode and you can trunk unconditionally. So again, version of the batteries do show and trunk. Okay, material go to start start.

I'll start Go switch port trunk encapsulation. We're using dot one, two, and we're actually trunking a port. Okay, so now they're trunk. So we're making sure I guess why everything's working the way we want it to work. All right. And again, we haven't assigned show VLAN brief.

We haven't assigned anything to that VLAN 500. Okay, so let's go down to this switch right here. I'll just switch. The core. We'll call this switch one. Enable 13 was named as the one I and then we're going to change the VTP mode from server that's ready is to transfer the client Which we did in layer two.

So we'll do a do show VTP stat. Okay, you see that client last came down and we'll have it did the VLAN come down do show VLAN All right, VLANs not there. Hmm. Could it be that password VTP password, maybe we put in Cisco. Okay. Now let's see, that'd be nice.

Okay, now. Now the VLAN came down. So you need to if you put a password, you see that it's negotiating, it will bring down things, but it won't send the VLAN information now, because it has a password in it. So that's a good thing. So that's all it is with changing the modes and creating a password and the versioning of it. But that's it.

There's no real difference is the same thing. Nothing difference between the layer two and layer three is now the layer three you have routing capabilities you can enable. You can enable routing on your IP routing enables IP and then to routing. Now you've enabled routing on there so I can configure a routing protocol. If I do router rip, I have version two. And then whatever networks you have 10 000 that 172 dot 16 dot zero, whoa.

So some people are excited, some to do 16 00 and then that's just putting some bogus stuff in here now And then no autumn so that's the difference. major difference main difference, this will start that you can actually turn on routing in this particular switch when the layer two switch you cannot. Alright. And you have routing protocol configured out here and you were to look at the show VLANs show VLAN brief. The grant came down because we typed in the password, it before and the layer two Would input a password it came down automatically VLANs at all. Here we put a VLAN in the server we actually put in a password and then when we change the client mode is still good and they were synchronizing they were talking information was coming down but not VLAN information.

So wants to put in the password boom. They shoulda said that's all there is to this as long as to this and listen if you get stuck there it is. Korean domain. Well mode, do you want to set a password and then the VTP version or then we also talked about against to write and we have a VTP mode. You see we only have three that off? Just moving on there.

Okay, so this client server or transparent Okay, that's all there is to this. Okay, that's all there is to this again, I don't know what doubted that you'll be doing anything like this. They'll be asking questions about this. Definitely, definitely, they'll be asking questions about this. But it's not gonna get complex at all. I know there's no different modes, and what they handle and stuff like that.

But that's it. And you know the importance of the password. You started working there yourself the password because the VTP is for VLAN database management VLAN database management. That's it. And remember, even though the off is not there, the off we just say, I just don't want to participate in BGP at all. Okay, that's it.

I'll see you next time.
