Now, the topics that we're going to cover, I want to cover in a special way you can see the last bullet point already gonna be in a lab. So I don't have to bore you to death of my voice. All right, identifying the placement of the rubrics, that is the key, that is the most important most important things that we can do.
All right. We're also going to do commands that will customize rubrics, we will manually using priority numbers, but we're not going to use priority numbers not we're going to go ahead and use a command called root spanning tree, the VLAN root and then we're going to set a primary and a secondary root bridge. Okay, something that you didn't do your CCNA now for the CCNP switch, you need to know that command All you need to know that particular command and the secondary root bridge will be for backup purposes we'll change the mode of SDP to rapid p vs T. And while we do this through the packet tracer, I went ahead and created a nice little topology and we're going to take a look at it no PCs just the fact that we have this will be like a Cisco three layer model where you have the core distribution and access layer switches and again the key is and you'll see you know you'll hear me say it in the in the lab you don't want to leave spanning tree you could sort of situations but it's not recommended to leave spanning tree because Ranch is great.
It does everything by itself just plug things in and spanning tree does its calculations does his job and that's it. You know Is that okay? He chose a root bridge. What is the root bridge? There's a weak bridge is the bridge that you really don't want. They can't handle the load.
So that's one of the pitfalls, that by linear running by itself, not tweaking it not tuning and not changing anything customizing it. So we're going to learn are we're going to decide, well, I already decided for you in the lab, who's gonna be the root bridge and who's gonna be the secondary, but we'll take a look at it. And we'll look at the priority numbers. All right, and we'll do some commands so you can take so how to change spanning tree which is going to be through all the switches, okay?
