The introduction and first verse of Freddy kings. butterscotch goes like this. There's the first first, that when you learn the song, there's a basic kind of bass rhythm that's played all the way through. And he's basically just playing over the chords, the C, he's playing this. And so what I'm doing is going from the eighth fret of the sixth string to the eighth, or the 10th fret of the fourth string, those are both C's, and then he's coming back to the eighth fret of the fourth string, and then the 10th fret of the fifth strengths, we got this actually go into the 10th fret of the fifth string first. Back home.
So here's the melody. And he's also using his right hand palm to mute the strings the whole way through the song. So when he plays those bass licks, he's going to be using his right hand palm to mute. And then each time he plays one of those, he's going to insert a lick. And every verse there's four different licks that he plays. And each one is different, unique.
I don't think he repeats the same thing exactly the same way any two times throughout the throughout the song, which is really, really cool. That makes this song a little harder to memorize. But if you work at it, you can get it or you can just play whatever you want to play. So we got this the first lick that he plays goes like this So I'm going to bend up twice on the 10th fret of the third string. I'm just gonna kind of let it go and bring it back to the 10th fret without picking it. And then this little, this, this riff here to get us back to the one, check the tab on this, I'm going from the eighth fret of the third string and winding up on the eighth fret of the sixth string.
So the whole first part so far, it does it again. This time he's going to stop, he's not going to go to the eighth fret of the sixth string, the C, he's going to stop on the G 10th fret of the fifth string, he's gonna play this. We got this. So he's gonna bend up on the 10th fret of the third string three times And then this time he's going to end that run on the eighth fret of the fifth string, which is the F and that's where the song goes into the four. So now he plays so we're gonna do another band on the third string, oh, little hesitation on the eighth fret of the third string and back to the one we got this. So anyway, let me just play everything we got so far, so don't get confused.
And then we got this twice, right as he's getting ready to let it down to let the bend Go down, do a quick pull off from the 10th fret to the eighth fret on the third string and get to the 10th fret of the fourth string on the third string and then to the G, the bass note for the G and then the turnaround for the ninth fret to the 10th fret on the fifth string. That leads us into the next verse. So each one of those licks, take a look at the tab and dissect it. That's why I have the tab written out for each verse instead of for the whole song so you can just take it one verse at a time. Let me play the whole verse through real slow and here we go. One more time.
And that leads us to verse number two. So there's the introduction and first verse of Freddy kings but it's got
