Hello, and welcome back. In this video, we'll have a look at how we can use Trello to act as a mind map or a canvas for our ideas. So I have a board set up right now called Mind Map. And as per usual, I have labeled anything in yellow as instructions so that when you do copy this board, you can have a look at some of the notes and instructions on how to use this board more effectively. So, there's even a list for a six step process. Again, this board is very flexible, you don't have to be very strict with it.

It's meant to be more fluid so that you can be more creative with your ideas. So for example, the first one is to choose a board name that references a theme or project or timeframe. As you can see, minus this straight on mindmap I let the images on my cards do the talking. So the next step is well creating, you know card covers with or even board backgrounds is very visual to make it more interesting. You can attach images to it as what I've done here, Bali trip Malaysia trip, healthy recipes, even books that I want to read. And the next thing you can do is write things down based on what categories they fall into.

So these card lists are very flexible. You can define it as whatever you want, just like most Trello boards, but especially so for this board. This is more personal and close to the chest for you. For example, in this board we have a mixture of personal goals and ideas plus some career Development and work ideas. I'll touch on the work ideas in a moment. But for example, we move on to career development.

This is more about certain things that you can do to potentially get a promotion. Or maybe you're trying to jump industries are trying to job hunt for next job. And you want to have certain skill sets you want to have equipped before you apply for any jobs can list them here, hobbies, pretty straightforward. Maybe some things that you do in your free time you just listed down here. Traveling is one of the more popular topics and to make you really inspired photos really illustrate the reason why you want to go somewhere. It also is like a reminder to you that you know, if you don't go there soon, things might change in that country or that particular location.

So the other thing you should look at is also using checklists, for example, for my Bali trip, this checklist here so that it acts like a mini project management list to get things really moving. If not, you're just gonna stare at it and not do anything about it. There's even a due date here set. But of course, this is assuming that you have really decided that this is an actionable thing you want to partake in. If not, you can just leave it there just for something for you to look at inspiration, something to chill and relax. There's also a list for health benefits.

And for example, I have a healthy recipe list. And it's not just an image here. There's also a link to a YouTube video that has a list of other healthy pasta recipes, which you can click here and watch the video. So it's really up to you what kind of information you want to put into each card. There's even goal based, like I mentioned before, which is for the health portion is joining a marathon. And what I see a lot of people do is also put some sort of reading list, this is where the types of books you want to read.

Someday, maybe if you already got them, you can put a link to it. If you're thinking of buying them, you can even put a link to Amazon or whichever e commerce site that you use to buy books. And that's pretty much it. It's really straightforward. So going back to the work ideas, rather than adding a card manually, I what I like to do is to transfer cards from another board. So another board that is usually the ones that are used for work.

So in this example Let's just imagine that we use Daniel's GTD example the board that we had in the previous video. And remember, we had a reference materials list. This is to ensure that we have a new idea that we might not have time to look into at the moment or it's not priority. It's safely stored in a specific list. It's really up to you if you want to leave this on this board. But let's say we want to put this in to more centralized space where it can be referenced when you have free time.

Because this is a work board, you may not look at it when you're on holiday or when you're browsing Trello during the weekend. So we can move this quite easily in a few ways. One, click move and then changing the board to mind map. You can even change the list and specify which lists for this case we say work idea. And then click move just like that it's transferred to our new mindmap board. Let's have a look.

There you go. So right here in work ideas. So this method or workflow can be very useful because like I mentioned before, you might be looking at this particular Mind Map board when you're free when you're taking a break when you're on holiday. So that's also when some people feel that it's best for him to work on certain ideas from work, where the mind is a bit more free. So importing a list of cards that represent ideas from your work board. into this mind map board is one option that you guys should try out So have fun creating mind maps in Trello
