Use a journal and write down your fundamental beliefs about money. Write down your memories of how money was dealt with in your family growing up. How did these events from your childhood shape what you think and believe about money today? The more you write, the more you will see a connection between what you learned about money and how you behave with money today.
Here are some guiding questions to help you mentally and emotionally connect with your money beliefs:


How much money did your family have?
Were you rich, poor, or middle class?
Have you since discovered that your family was richer or poorer than you thought when you were a child?
Did you have about the same, more, or less money than your childhood friends?
Whose job was it to earn the money for your family?
Who mostly spent the money in your family?
Who made the financial decisions in your family?
