Whether or not you have a c-section, the abdominals go through a lot during pregnancy and they are kind of important in stabilizing the spine. By your third trimester, your abdominals had to stretch to the point where they were pretty much useless and the brain practically forgets they exist. Now what saved you during pregnancy was the pressure of that baby in utero but now that balloon has popped and the abdominals are still offline which makes you extremely susceptible to low back pain. This is yet another reason why rest is encouraged both to allow the abdominals to come back together and to prevent any spinal instability.
