DESCRIPTION: I think I should start by explaining what prolapse is because there can be a lot of confusion about it. Let's start with a little anatomy lesson, here is your vaginal opening, vaginal canal, and uterus. On the front side of the vaginal wall sits the bladder and on the backside, your colon. So here are the 3 holes we can see from the outside. Now usually the wall of the vaginal canal provides a physical support structure that the colon and the bladder push up against when they fill or move with abdominal pressure. This same structure is what had to expand and stretch to let that baby come out so that after having a kid, the wall of the vaginal canal isn’t so strong. This allows the bladder and/or the colon to push into the wall which bulges into the vaginal canal. Now depending on how much pressure is coming from the bladder or colon as well as how much structural support still remains, this bulge can slightly come into the canal or it can come in and down toward the vaginal...
