DESCRIPTION: Let's start with what the heck is diastasis recti. In easier-to-understand terms, it is the split down the middle. The line that separates our abdominals is called the linea alba. This line is just soft tissue and while there is no muscle there, it is the line that all of the abdominals attach to and pull from so it is extremely important with regard to proper abdominal strength. When the linea alba widens or stretches, it is designated as diastasis recti. 100% of pregnant individuals will have diastasis recti and this is because the stomach has to stretch somewhere to make room for the baby in the third trimester. Since the linea alba is just soft tissue, it happens here and there is no way to prevent this. Now, this only becomes a problem when the linea alba does return to its previous state of being narrow and having tension. So how do you make sure this happens for your linea alba?
The first and most important step is to allow the tissues to come together in the 4th trimester...
