DESCRIPTION: 
I bring up compression in the cesarean section because it assists in the healing of the scar but I want to bring it up again for those who have had vaginal deliveries. Even though your abdominals remain intact, they did stretch out a significant amount in pregnancy and need time and rest to come back together and regain their tensile strength. Compression bands are great for assisting this in that they prevent continued stretching of the tissue when you are up against gravity doing all the necessary things. The compression can also feel good because it provides the spine with a little support while the abdominals are still offline. While I recommend compression for the first 4 weeks, I also think it's important to wean off it sooner than later so that your body doesn&rsquo;t depend on the external support instead of reconnecting with your abdominals. So use it as a temporary tool in the early days and then ditch it as you find your core again. I have put a few links below this...
