DESCRIPTION:
Let’s just take a moment to acknowledge what your body has accomplished. You grew a baby and then birthed a baby. That’s impressive no matter what your pregnancy and birth story is. So kudos to you.
I also want to acknowledge that it is normal to feel like maybe your body didn’t perform this task with grace. And to be honest, I haven’t witnessed a single body that has. I believe this is because the task is so great. Religious beliefs aside, the ability to grow a baby without having to think about each step along the way is a miracle. But then you have to get that baby out and let's face it, there is no great way of doing that. So anytime you are feeling broken and down about the aftermath of having a baby, remind yourself of what you accomplished and this will not be permanent. This isn’t your end game.
I want to review what just happened from a physical standpoint. My hope is that some of what you are feeling might seem more justified knowing the why...
