DESCRIPTION: 
We have arrived at Box Greens, a hydroponic farm in Little Haiti a neighborhood in Miami, Florida with cofounder Lisa Merker.
Hydroponic means: a farming process without any soil at all, plants are fed nutrients through water solution.
Box Greens takes used shipping containers and transforms them into indoor farms, where they grow leafy greens, lettuces, herbs, and microgreens. They outfit each container with racks, irrigation system, LED lighting, and an intrack system to create a complete controlled environment within each container

1 container produces over 100 pounds of lettuce a week
On site, we have our own well that taps into the aquifer 
Across the industry, Box Greens uses 90% less water than traditional farming. That is because, within the container, we are constantly re-circulating the water.
90% of lettuce grown in the US is grown in California and Arizona and they switch between the two based on the season - these are areas commonly affected by drought and water...
