You would take a resume a right down, write a nice cover letter.

Put up your experience your background, start putting it up with friends, ex bosses, people who you know, are put up on job portals MRI. But is that all it takes to actually attract the attention of the employer or get you that interview call? The answer is a big No. So how do we convert this no into a yes? How do we ensure that instead of you searching for a job, the prospective employer comes searching for you. In this module, we will learn six power steps, and you're sure to get discovered by the employer.

So let's start with step one. That's making a list of all prospective hiring companies. Depending on your background and experience, make a list of all the companies irrespective whether they're looking for a candidate or no, it's important to include those companies also, where there are no vacancies. So that's your list of prospective target employers. Step two is keywords for your resume. Depending on your background and experience, you need to include certain keywords which will go into your resume.

For example, if you are a civil engineer from the construction industry into project management, the keywords that you will use that project management, construction management, quality control and assurance, improve timelines, vendor management, site management, these are the kinds of keywords that you need to include in your resume. So, when the hiring manager is actually searching online, your resume a comes up front. This part will take care of your resume as keywords and other advantages. That while using these keywords, you will find that most of the job portals, major ones have filtering tools. So when these keywords are part of your resume, the filtering will take place and they will automatically throw up your resume upfront. In another video of mine on customizing your resume.

I will be taking you through certain keywords that you can take from the job description and that will help you further step three keywords to come up with relevant job openings, how do you get relevant job openings by using keywords? It all depends upon your background and your experience. So say for example, if you are a civil engineer into project management, and you are in construction industry, you want to move to the real estate or the hospitality or the hotel industry. What do you need to do? There are two methods to do this. First method is by search by way of industry.

Second one is search by your company. The one which is by industry, you need to write, say, for example, a designation of a VP project, GM project, project head or a project manager. If you're looking at these resignations in the industry, this is like a real estate or hospitality. You need to add that also add the word job. That's extremely critical because all jobs in this industry with this designation will come up. So this was method one.

The method two is search by company name. How do you do that? Suppose you are a civil engineer from the construction industry in project management, and wanting to move to a company like the Taj group of hotels or culture. For example, what you need to do is in the search bar, put a keyword like project management, VP projects, GM projects, head of projects, whichever designation you're looking for. Along with that, you put the name of the company, say called Taj group, and put the word job. Once you do that, all jobs which are related to these designations in that company will start coming up the list.

So there'll be at the top, follow these two methods, and you show to get great results. Now moving on to the next step, step four, how do you search for a job through a recruitment agency? recruitment agencies, as we all know, are a very important channel and you need to know which recruitment agencies handling which kind of job for that, what do you do as far as the keywords are concerned? In the Google search part, right, the word recruitment agency, write the name of the company that you're searching for. Say for example, if it is Tata Motors, after giving a comma and write the industry, if it is, say the automobile industry, right automobile or if it's manufacturing, right manufacturing. Once you do that all jobs related to that industry from a recruitment agency will come up.

And that will be up on the list on top. That's how you find which recruitment agencies handling what kind of jobs. Step five, listing down the names and designations of the hiring managers and the HR managers, very important to know who is the hiring manager. So how do you search that there are two methods to do this. Go on LinkedIn. And in the search bar, you can put the designation Say for example, you want to know the VP projects, put the designation put the name of the company, and all people working for that company with that designation will start coming up the list.

That's one method. The method two is Search for the name and designation through the LinkedIn company pages. What are they? There are prospective hiring companies that you've listed. Now, as I told you in step one, go to each of those companies and go to the company page of that particular company. For example, if it is Tata Motors go to Tata Motors company page, and you can search for all the functional heads functional managers in the list of employees of that particular company.

Once you do that, you will automatically start getting the names and designations of the required. Why are these two methods important? They are important because hiring managers and HR managers play a very crucial role as far as decision making is concerned for you as a candidate. So when you have to address them, you should know their name and designation. Step six, building your connections through LinkedIn, how do you build your connections through LinkedIn and with route? Make a list of all your prospective employers, your ex bosses, your teammates and ex colleagues?

Sending them connections.
